En 1819, el teniente Ross, agente político adjunto en los estados montañosos, instaló una cabaña de madera en Shimla. Tres años más tarde, su sucesor y el funcionario escocés Charles Pratt Kennedy construyó la primera casa pucca en el área llamada Kennedy Cottage en 1822, cerca de Annadale, lo que ahora es el hogar de la oficina del CPWD.

Had booked this tour for one of our HNI clients who wanted to experience real Shimla, beyond run of the mill touristy perspective. To our surprise this walking tour turned out to be an exceptional way to dive deep in to this hill stations rich history and interesting folklores. Walking through the land spotting iconic heritage site and simultaneously listening to stories and anecdotes from past made this a wonderfull experience. Moreover this experience is led by expert locals Preeti & Pawan who are born and bought up in city and knows many insider details like back of their hand. Charges are very nominal for the kind of experience it delivers. Approx 2 hours walk is perfect fit for people of all ages and fitness. Tours are private basis to no annoying crowd to deal with. Overall an excellent experience.

Preeti was an absolutely excellent guide. Her English was impeccable and, having been brought up in Shimla, her knowledge of the area was outstanding. The tour was far more than just a ‘walking tour’ as Preeti gave us a real insight into the history of Shimla and all its buildings as well as taking us to places where I’m sure not many tourists have the chance to visit.

Wonderful experience. The walk started right on dot. Ms. Preeti, our guide had good knowledge about the sites we visited. We were not aware of so much history around us although we had been to Shimla many times earlier. We got what was promised on the website. Ms. Preeti was extremely pleasant and helpful; she even gave us great ideas on other places to visit around Shimla when we come next. The co-ordination since our booking was very professional. This heritage walk is a must for those wanting to soak in Shimla's history away from the maddening crowd.
