Como lugareño, he conducido cientos de veces por la carretera hasta Sete Cidades y todavía me sorprende. En el momento en que se abre la caldera, se ve la laguna más grande de las Azores, también conocida como los lagos verdes y azules o gemelos, el pueblo justo allí, toda la escena copada dentro de un volcán inactivo... nadie en la furgoneta dice una palabra, solo mira y jadea. En ese momento construí este tour de Sete Cidades en São Miguel. Nuestro Tour por la Costa Oeste va a donde la mayoría de los turistas llegan y nunca llegan, para en cuatro miradores, incluyendo Vista do Rei, donde el hotel abandonado, Monte Palace Hotel, se encuentra sobre las lagunas verdes y azules, Boca do Infierno en la cima del borde del volcán, entre otros. Desciende a la caldera para un almuerzo local de Azores, donde van los lugareños, y un paseo por la laguna azul después, para dejar que toda esa comida se vaya sin problemas. Pequeño grupo, sin prisas, tu propio ritmo. Descubre las numerosas lagunas de Sete Cidades. Alcanza altos miradores sobre las paredes volcánicas.

Itinerario
Comience conduciendo hasta la pared de la caldera a través de una carretera interior de la isla, deténgase en un mirador para ver las costas norte y sur y las vastas colinas y formaciones volcánicas a lo largo de São Miguel.
Revisa los antiguos acueductos de estilo romano que se utilizaban para transportar agua dulce entre los pueblos occidentales desde el siglo XVI, Ponta Delgada también se alimentó a través de esta infraestructura hasta principios del siglo XX. ¡Mira el popular Muro de las Nueve Ventanas y la puerta, dicen algunos, a Narnia!
Llegar a una laguna aislada rodeada de árboles, la Lagoa do Canário se puede contemplar solo desde unos pocos puntos de acceso. La exuberante vegetación de Criptomerías y la alta humedad en el aire, hace que sea como si camináramos hacia un bosque encantado.
Dé un paseo fácil por el parque natural de la Lagoa do Canario hasta el mirador de Boca do Infierno, donde se pueden contemplar los valles formados alrededor del volcán Sete Cidades, las lagunas Azul y Verde y el pueblo de Sete Cidades. Desde una altura de alrededor de 700 metros sobre el nivel del mar hay mucho que apreciar. (Se requiere un nivel mínimo de aptitud física debido a una subida pronunciada al mirador).
Contempla toda la inmensidad de las lagunas verdes y azules de Sete Cidades desde el punto de vista del Rey, aprende sobre la inmensidad de la laguna de Sete Cidades desde lo alto (comúnmente conocida como lagos gemelos o lagos azules y verdes, pero en realidad es una masa de agua masiva)! Conozca la diferencia de sus colores, la historia legendaria que gira en torno a él y admire el lujoso hotel abandonado, Monte Palace Hotel.del hotel abandonado que se encuentra en ruinas y la leyenda detrás de las lagunas. Haremos una parada en una parada menos transitada antes de llegar al mirador muy poblado.
Desciende a la caldera, contemplando los frondosos arbustos de hortensias en el camino, descubre la laguna de Santiago desde arriba.
Para el almuerzo, deleite a sus papilas gustativas con nuestra comida de estilo regional, tendrá opciones de carne, pescado y vegetariana en este buffet de comida local tradicional. (Entrada, Plato Principal, Bebida, Postre y Café incluidos)
Daremos un pequeño paseo por la península que atraviesa la Laguna Azul, un bonito momento de tranquilidad que impulsará una auténtica conexión con el ecosistema local. Observa la fauna local y la flora estacional, admira el cráter desde su interior. También será de gran ayuda para nuestra digestión.
Una estancia rápida alrededor del pueblo de Sete Cidades para comprobar la arquitectura típica regional y el estilo de vida, y la icónica iglesia neogótica (uno de los dos en la isla). Encontrará una tienda de regalos/souvenirs cercana.
Alcance la cima de un acantilado en el punto más occidental de São Miguel para apreciar las vistas de Mosteiros y sus islotes, conozca la historia de la desaparecida isla de Azores.
Descenso a Mosteiros, el pueblo más occidental de São Miguel, para caminar en su playa con una perspectiva única de los islotes. Admira también su vasta costa basáltica donde se pueden encontrar piscinas naturales formadas por flujos de lava. (El fondo del mar en esta playa es abundante en roca, entrar en el agua implica maniobras arriesgadas, no recomendamos baños aquí.)
Mosteiros es uno de los lugares de natación más inusuales de la isla. Admira una vasta costa magnífica de roca basáltica, los flujos de lava formaron esta área hace cientos de años, con las olas del océano Atlántico, aparecen diferentes agujeros donde uno puede ir a refrescarse. Su guía sabrá qué piscinas son accesibles. Las piscinas naturales de entrada libre también se pueden encontrar aquí, abiertas al océano o más cerradas, donde los lugareños que no son amantes de la arena vienen a disfrutar de sus baños de océano de una manera sencilla. ¡Cuidado con las superficies rocosas! (Se permite una inmersión rápida siempre que pueda regresar seco al vehículo. No proporcionamos toallas o cambio de ropa). Las piscinas de "Mosteiros" no forman parte de los baños termales oceánicos de "Ferraria". Debido a la dependencia del agua caliente de la marea baja y el cambio de mareas diferentes horas, no podemos asegurar esa experiencia.

Espere a la entrada de su alojamiento a la hora especificada por nosotros cuando nos comuniquemos para confirmar los últimos detalles de su reserva (15 minutos es nuestro tiempo máximo de espera, después de que se considere que no se presenta). Llegaremos en una camioneta gris con nuestro logo a los lados. Al final de este tour, las recogidas en Ribeira Grande tendrán un cargo extra de 10 € por cada reserva, no por persona. Por favor consúltenos para otros lugares de recogida.

Very beautiful excursion with varied landscapes. Our guide IVO accompanied us and gave us all the necessary information during the excursion while also leaving us moments to share on our own. He shared his knowledge of botany with us. He is very respectful of the environment and very attentive. He had brought us a typical cake and a nice cold bottle of water that we enjoyed ☺️. The tour guide was very informative and knew much about the area including the science of the rock formations as well as the botanical aspects of azores. I would definitely go on this tour so you can see all the sights of the azores and gain knowledge of the areas. The lunch was good and traditional to azores came with red wine and desert at end. My wife and I had a great time. The tour guide even gave us restaurants recommendations for when we were in punta delgada which was very helpful.

Ivo was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge as he is from the Azores. Any question was answered with passion that helped appreciate the island more. Throughout the Western tour, he safely drove us to each destination, took the best pictures at vantage points, and advocated for our group especially during the lunch buffet which had a lot of options. The dessert was delicious that varies from day to day. We had the flan and rice pudding. For those worried about bathroom use, public bathrooms were available throughout. The van promptly picked us up/dropped off from Hotel Verde Mar in Ribeira Grande. I highly recommend this tour because the locations can be very busy and made the vacation less stressful. We had our own car, but it made the beautiful views of the Azores more enjoyable. You get a chance to explore each area from 15-45 min. Feel free to pack for the beach/pools. I did a quick dip into the pools and just walked around the beach. We would try other tours if our time allowed. The fees are worth the experience. Definitely book with Wildscape Azores Tours!

This was our second tour with Ivo! Ivo was kind enough to reacheduke this tour because of the aeather conditions, to make sure that we we have the best experience! He shared a lot of information about the flora and the fauna of the osland, as well as history and other interesting facts! The viewpoints he took us to were great! The linch was included and there were a lot of pescaterian options for me. I got the impression that Ivo cares a lot about the tours and the participants, and I enjoyed the day with him! 😍
