Las Hornillas se encuentra en las faldas del Volcán Miravalles, donde se puede disfrutar de una experiencia verdaderamente única caminando dentro de un cráter activo. Our family of 7 ages 18-60 had an amazing day with Miller and Johnny and Oved as our guides. We were picked up at our casa in Palm Beach Estates and rode comfortably to Spring Paradise in the rain forest. It was a long ride made interesting by Miller’s kindness, humor and knowledge of all things CR. Johnny was an expert driver and a funny guy. We stopped along the way to see birds and monkeys. Our entire group enjoyed walking through the rainforest. The highlight was finding a baby sloth who had ventured away from its mother. After that we had the most delicious traditional lunch in a non touristy restaurant. I’ll be thinking of that food for a long time. Sadly the river was too high to enjoy, so we set off for Las Hornillas Springs. After learning all about the volcanic activity, we had a hilarious mud bath, shower and then relaxing soak in the hot springs. Everyone was smiling and relaxed. It was a long day for everyone but we all agree it was the highlight of our trip. Thank you for hosting us Miller, Johnny and Oved.

The views were amazing, the guide was so very knowledgeable about the micro climates. He literally had to make us grab our rain ponchos from the house because it was hard to believe the weather would change so much in such a short about of time. He stopped for snacks on the way and was just an amazing guide all the way from pick up to drop off! We saw sloths, toucans, hummingbirds, frogs bats and up close to the volcanos, then had an amazing local lunch.
Obed was extremely accommodating, fun, funny and interesting. He went out of his way to ensure that all three of us got what we wanted from this tour. He was a very good driver! He was knowledgeable about all of the places we visited. He flexed our tour to include cacao-chocolate experience since it was raining too hard to enjoy The Blue River.
We enjoyed the entire day. Seeing the sloths, the blue river and mud baths were exceptional. We were also lucky enough to have all of these experiences without any other tourists at the location or in our group. Gabriel, our guide, let us go at our own pace and enjoy everything until we were ready to go.
The whole trip was great-Miller was an amazing host, knowledgeable, kind and considerate and provided exactly what we were hoping for -5star for sure
We took the 4 in 1 tour with our experienced guide Eddie. It turned out to be a most wonderful time. He picked us up at our hotel and whisked us off to the volcano. During the excursion we experienced a mud bath, a hike in the jungle where we saw a lot of wildlife. We had lunch at a family ran restaurant in the rain forest. We ended the day with a dip in the blue river. Thanks to our guide “Ready Eddie”. He was charming to talk with ans knew the history and story around all the incredible places we saw.
Best experience I’ve ever had; Eddie García the tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the excursion a once in a lifetime experience. Most definitely will be booking again with him next visit. Highly recommend!
So much fun packed into one day. Each stop was its own experience. Ask for Eddie as your guide. He was full of information and joy for his country.
Was a great outing for the six of us , saw many animals along the rainforest tour, the blue river was great and to be able the swim in it was refreshing, a little set back with 2 flat tires along the way but our guide got us to our mud bath and hot spring and back no problem
My friend and I wanted to go to arenel volcano but it was 4 hours away so we decided on this tour and it was the best decision. Our your guide Alex from Viator was beyond amazing. Not only was he friendly and knowledgeable but he went the extra mile and stopped on the side of the road for us to grab some homemade empanadas and pineapple juice which was by far the best I’ve had. Then we went to our first destination to the rainforest and we had Juan Carlos as our tour guide who also was knowledgeable but also let’s us witch a sloth. There were so many animals and plants to see. It was just beautiful. We then proceeded to the blue river which was also very cool but it was a bit of a hike on the way back up. Then for our final destination of the hot springs/mud bath and volcano that was really something to see. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend and do it again. Thanks Alex and Juan Carlos you guys were great!
