Nuestras familias han vivido durante muchas generaciones en Varanasi permitiéndonos conocer cada rincón escondido de esta hermosa y antigua ciudad, junto con historias fascinantes sobre nuestras tradiciones, historia, religión y gente común como nosotros. Varanasi representa el alma de la India. Un visitante solo nunca puede esperar descubrir más que una fracción de sus secretos. Aún así, con nuestra ayuda, podrás descubrir la esencia de esta cautivadora ciudad. Nuestro recorrido comenzará en el punto de encuentro, desde donde emprenderemos un viaje de 3 horas para descubrir los sitios históricos y religiosos más importantes. Visitaremos los Ghats, crematorios, templos, calles estrechas, mercados y puestos de comida popular, pero también lugares menos turísticos que son clave para entender la realidad del Varanasi moderno. Durante nuestro recorrido, estaremos compartiendo contigo información histórica y otros hechos importantes pero también contándote historias interesantes sobre nuestra vida diaria, nuestra gastronomía y nuestras costumbres.

Dashaswamedh Ghat: - Dashashwamedh ghat es uno de los ghat más antiguos, espectaculares e importantes, ubicado en la orilla del río Gange, cerca del antiguo Templo Vishwanath en Kashi. El significado literal de Dashashwamedh es el Ghat (frente al río) de los diez caballos sacrificados (dash significa 10, ashwa significa caballo, medh significa sacrificio). Hay dos mitologías sobre el ghat: que el Señor Brahma fue creado como el ghat Dashashwamedh para dar la bienvenida al Señor Shiva, y la segunda es que el Señor Brahma fue sacrificado con los diez caballos en un yajna aquí. Este ghat es famoso por el Agni Pooja que se lleva a cabo aquí todos los días por la noche por un grupo de sacerdotes que están dedicados al Señor Shiva, el río Ganges, Surya, Agni y al universo entero.
El Templo Vishalakshi, también conocido como Templo Vishalakshi Gauri, es uno de los templos destacados de Varanasi que pertenece a la Diosa Vishalakshi. La Diosa Vishalakshi es un aspecto de la diosa Parvati o Gauri y se cree que tiene ojos grandes como el nombre también dice "Vishalakshi = Vishal (grande) + akshi (ojos)". Está ubicada en Mir Ghat a orillas del Río Ganges. El templo se considera un Shakti Pitha dedicado a la Madre Divina hindú, Adi Shakti. El popular lugar sagrado de Varanasi es parte de la famosa tríada de templos: Kanchi Kamakshi, Madurai Meenakshi y Kashi Visalakshi. Se considera que aquí habían caído los aretes o kundal de la Diosa Sati.
Templo nepalí: - Shri Samrajeswar Pashupatinath Mahadev Mandir, también conocido como Nepali Mandir, Kanthwala Mandir y Mini Khajuraho, es uno de los templos más antiguos y famosos de la ciudad santa de Varanasi. Este templo tiene una gran importancia religiosa en el hinduismo y está dedicado al Señor Shiva. El mandir está hecho de terracota, piedra y madera y tardó tres décadas en completarse. La madera es a prueba de termitas. Está construido en estilo arquitectónico nepalí y está rodeado de árboles de tamarindo y ficus religiosa (peepal).
Manikarnika Ghat: - Este Ghat es famoso por ser el lugar de cremación sagrado para los hindúes. Manikarnika Ghat es uno de los lugares de cremación más sagrados entre las riberas de los ríos sagrados (Ghats), junto al río Ganges. En el hinduismo, la muerte se considera una puerta de entrada a otra vida marcada por el resultado del propio karma. Se cree que el alma de un humano alcanza moksha y, por lo tanto, rompe el ciclo de renacimiento cuando es incinerada aquí. El pozo en el ghat se llama Manikarnika Kund y fue construido por Lord Vishnu.
Según el Señor Vishnu, los devotos que se bañan en Manikarnika y adoran a Manikarnikeshwar no volverán a ver el útero de su madre (es decir, no habrá renacimiento). El linga está ubicado bajo tierra, los devotos pueden bajar hasta tener un darshan de Shri Manikarnikeshwar Mahadev.

This tour in Varanasi was really very interesting. The guide was super nice and helpful and the places visited (well 5) very charming. We also had access to a place usually closed to the public. Recommended! Duration about 3 hours.
