Es algo que recuerdas. Comenzarás en un café escondido donde los granos son tratados como poesía, cuatro cafés regionales, elaborados con intención, combinados con sabores locales e historias que se mantienen. ¿Y luego? Tú camina. No sin objetivo, sino guiado por alguien que vive y respira la ciudad. Desde parques escondidos llenos de aves hasta murales meteorológicos y edificios, San José se abre cuando estás con alguien que sabe leerlo. Esto es para viajeros que les gustan sus mañanas lentas, ricas y llenas de perspicacia. Para aquellos que quieran probar el lugar, no solo verlo.

Marco was absolutely amazing! There was a mix-up through Viator, but he stepped in last minute and completely saved the experience. He gave us a fantastic overview of San José’s history and added so much depth to our coffee tasting with his knowledge and insights. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time and his pride for Costa Rica was evident. Everything ended up being seamless and enjoyable thanks to him. Highly recommend!
Some good information was given. But We did not get the lesson in preparing the perfect cup like a real barista, on pouring and preparing coffee using different filter methods as mentioned in the overview. That’s what really made me choose this tour over the others because I’m a hands on person.

Regarding the coffee workshop, we would like to clarify that our specialty coffee experience is designed as a one-hour session led by a professional barista, where guests are welcome not only to learn, but also to ask questions and actively participate. When guests express interest, they are absolutely allowed to go behind the bar and prepare their own coffee using different brewing methods, guided directly by the barista. In many cases, the level of hands-on participation depends on the preferences communicated during the experience. Our guides and baristas are always happy to adapt and encourage a more interactive, hands-on approach when requested. We have never had any restrictions on guest participation during our coffee workshops. We believe this may have been a case of expectations not being fully communicated during the tour. Had this been expressed at the time, the experience could have been adjusted accordingly, as hands-on participation is completely allowed and regularly offered in our tours. We toured with Oscar, we started with an excellent coffee tasting with very good explanations from Victor to Cafeoteca, then we toured the city center. Oscar was great, he explained us well in French all the historical and important places of San Jose. Very nice memory, thank you very much! Marc & Laura

We really enjoyed the San José City Tour with Foodie Tours CR. Our guide, Oscar, was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to spend time with. The tour gave us a good overview of some of the city’s main cultural sites, along with a few interesting food and drink tastings we hadn’t tried before. It was a relaxed, well-paced way to learn more about the city, and we’d recommend it to anyone visiting San José.

This was my second time with Adriana and Foodie Tours. I did a combo of specialty coffee and chocolate making. I learned a lot about local producers, traditions, processes, etc. and everything was delicious. Also Adriana had many great suggestions for cafes (yay to espresso at La Cabra Negra) and restaurants and she went above and beyond to help me solve a travel problem. She has a great demeanor, wonderful connections and excellent taste. I can not recommend her highly enough!
