Ruta del Sillar en Arequipa y mirador de los Volcanes
Descripción
El sillar es el origen de la arquitectura de la Ciudad Blanca y su ruta turística se desarrolla en el distrito de Cerro Colorado. Además de los paisajes naturales de la zona, se puede observar el proceso de extracción, estilización y megatallado del sillar. Cuenta con la infraestructura necesaria y servicios turísticos como talleres de interpretación, con la presencia de cortadores de sillar; áreas del panel de información; señalización turística; estacionamiento; Compra de artesanías en sillar y áreas de descanso. La ruta sillar es administrada por la Red Sillar Cutters - Arequipa. Actualmente comprende una longitud de 2.000 metros, cubriendo las canteras en operación de Añashuayco, Cortadores y la cantera virgen de Culebrillas.

Puedes ver los murales donde el sillar está tallado de manera artesanal, también la rutina realizada por los trabajadores de la zona. También conocerás el cañón de la culebrilla, un pequeño cañón de sillería rosa, formado naturalmente.
Las canteras, un área natural protegida desde hoy, es un lugar atractivo para apreciar el origen del sillar, piedra volcánica característica de Arequipa.
Permite conocer el origen del sillar, piedra representativa de lo que se hacen la mayoría de las construcciones del centro histórico de la ciudad. Las impresionantes tallas de piedra, el camino de tejas, donde se forma un pequeño cañón de sillería rosa, área natural, ideal para tomar fotos y conocer el origen más remoto, esta área es completamente virgen y protegida, y no puede trabajar a su alrededor. Después de eso, regresarán al centro de la ciudad, donde contrastarán observando las grandes construcciones de sillar hechas desde la antigüedad.

Lugares y horarios de recogida
La recogida se realiza en hoteles dentro del centro de la ciudad, de lo contrario, el punto de encuentro será en la plaza principal de Armas. El punto preferido sería en la puerta principal de la Plaza de Armas en el turno de la mañana, serían las 8:00 a.m. o en el turno de la tarde a las 2:00 p.m.

Nice day out. Mike was a great guide with very good English. I enjoyed walking through the canyon the most, but as others have said, there is a very steep walk out of the canyon. Make sure you have sturdy shoes.
Interesting for some. I found it boring. And uninspirimg. I guess we were looking for other types of tour guides.

Great guided experience was Anthony Flores and driver Freddie. Super friendly and very pleasant the trip, very interesting explanations. He highly recommended it. The route is long but worth it. We saw the condor birds several times. Impressive!
1st, they contacted me to meet at a different pick up location which doubled the length of our walk to the pick- up location. Upon getting on the bus at the new pick up location after a .7 mile walk we proceeded through town picking up other customers and ended up driving right by my Airbnb. That was a little frustrating to say the least. My husband was not feeling well and it was difficult to understand the English spoken portion of the talk, so we decided to leave the group at the 1st stop and Uber home.

The tour itself is really cool! The check-in and pickup felt disorganized and could be improved. Be prepared for MANY flies - bring lots of insect repellant! I wish the guide or driver had repellant for the bus/van because it became extremely filled with flies when they left the door and windows open during one of our walks. Lastly, one of the entrances was more than they advertised, which wasn't a big issue but threw me off guard because I had a limited amount of cash (the day before I left and I didn't want to withdraw more). Regardless was a cool tour and still recommend it, especially with the price tag.

The place is beautiful. Worth the visit and the walk along the route. Attention if you have any mobility difficulties, as there are sections on the route that deserve double care.

Interesting ride, very friendly guide Mike, very good explanation... unforgettable experience. As advice improve mobility, the air was not cold , towards very hot, and damping check of the urgent vehicle!
