Had a fun day trip from our resort with my with and friends! Steve was very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with us. Would highly recommend for a day trip in CR. Pura Vida!!a
I booked my excursion with Amstar in which I met Esteban, who was the absolute best & most friendly tour guide I’ve ever dealt with. He took his time to show all the animals in the sloth sanctuary and was very patient.
Esteban was an amazing guide!! So funny & interactive with such upbeat personality!!
Awesome experience! Saw lots of wildlife and had a wonderful and informative tour guide. Shout-out Esteban!! Amazing jokes 😁
Esteban was amazing!!!! 20/10!! Very informative, very professional.
The rainforest tour was disappointing. We did not see many animals.
The waterfall was pretty but would have rather spent more time with the sloths. Our guide was amazing, So much knowledge. Slothland was amazing. We saw so many cool animals and the plants are also amazing. We were also at the hot springs and had a great time. We had excellent service, the cocktails we great. Try the smoked rum old fashioned, it was my favorite. There are pools of all temperatures to chose from, and stinky mud if you like. Also the chocolate and coffee demonstration was so informative and delicious. Trip was a long day but well worth the money.
This was an excellent tour. Our tour guide, Steve was awesome! Very knowledgeable and patient. He took extra time to find animals that the average person could not see! My biggest takeaway was being able to see a baby sloth that was literally within about 12 ft.! I would definitely recommend Steve! Great tour!
This was hands down one of the best tour experiences we have had in Costa Rica. It combined the Rio Celeste waterfall, the Slothland sanctuary, and a coffee and chocolate experience all in one day, and every part of it delivered. Our guide, Steve, made the whole day. He had incredible cultural, historical, and ecological knowledge and shared it constantly throughout the drive and the stops, which elevated the entire experience. Slothland itself exceeded expectations. We saw multiple sloths up close, along with monkeys, toucans, and poison dart frogs. It felt like we got lucky with how much wildlife we encountered. The coffee and chocolate portion was educational and genuinely hands on. You see the plants starting from the seed pod stage, then get to actually help make chocolate and coffee and sample it right there. It gave us a much deeper appreciation for how both are produced, down to the ratios and processing steps, even for someone already fairly knowledgeable about coffee. The Rio Celeste waterfall hike was beautiful, set in a rainforest. It rained during our visit, which honestly added to the charm. A tip for future travelers, skip the poncho, since it gets hot on the hike and ponchos tend to go unused. Quick drying clothing and water resistant hiking shoes serve you much better. One small downside is that a past landslide means visitors can no longer descend fully into the caldera. The viewing stairs now only go about halfway down, and only a handful of people are allowed on the platform at a time for safety. The view is still spectacular, but it's worth knowing in advance. The hike could also be tiring for young kids or older adults, though it's manageable for most. One important note that surprised us, neither the tour advertisement nor our confirmation mentioned that you need your passport to enter the national park. A physical passport or a clear photo of it works, but this was not disclosed anywhere ahead of time. We happened to have photos of our passports accessible on the bus, but it could have been a real problem otherwise. Future travelers should come prepared. Overall, we highly recommend this tour. It was well organized, informative, and full of memorable moments.
Steve and the tour was amazing. We enjoyed the trip, exploring the country, learning cool facts, history and seeing various animals.
