El monasterio de Rila forma parte de la lista del patrimonio cultural mundial de la UNESCO y es uno de los símbolos de Bulgaria. El Monasterio de Rila fue fundado en el siglo X por San Juan de Rila, un ermitaño canonizado por la Iglesia Ortodoxa. Su vivienda ascética y su tumba se convirtieron en un lugar sagrado y se transformaron en un complejo monástico que jugó un papel importante en la vida espiritual y social de la Bulgaria medieval. Un ejemplo característico del Renacimiento búlgaro (siglos XVIII-XIX), el monumento simboliza la conciencia de una identidad cultural eslava tras siglos de ocupación. Tendrá tiempo suficiente para explorar el monasterio, la iglesia principal y el museo del monasterio.

Melnik es la ciudad más pequeña de Bulgaria en la actualidad. Los primeros pobladores de esta región fueron la tribu Tracian Medi, de la cual se originó el legendario rebelde Espartaco. Durante el avivamiento, Melnik era una gran ciudad floreciente con un gran mercado. Desde entonces, la ciudad es famosa por sus vinos de alta calidad. Durante el recorrido visitaremos la casa Kordopulova donde podremos degustar el vino local. Cerca de Melnik veremos las pirámides de Melnik. La entrada a la casa Kordopulova es de 3 levas.
Antes de viajar de regreso a Sofía haremos una pausa para el almuerzo (el almuerzo no está incluido en el precio del tour).

Anton was a brilliant guide, so considerate and always made sure everything was perfect :) I really loved Rila Monastery even if it was unexpectedly cold (snowing!) Really glad I chose Melnik, a cool town with amazing rock formations (Watch out for the scam lake tours when in May you can't even see the lakes as they're still covered in snow and the hike would be miserable- I learned from multiple sources that some tour companies offer this and then cancel the lakes at the last minute or force people to hike for hours through snow miserably!) This tour company and day trip genuinely care about people having a good time - highly recommend

We did a private tour to Rila Monastery and the town of Melnik. Both places are fantastic! Love the structure and architecture of Rila Monastery with so much history and learned about the paintings of the interiors of the church. Ventsi is patient to explain all the details clearly and we took nice photos of the surroundings. We made our way to Melnik and is impressed by the quiet town which speaks by itself with the traditional old stone and wooden houses. Visited a house museum and tasted some lovely Melnik wine after wandering an underground cave cellar. Highly recommended for some unique experience!

Our driver and guide (Ventsislav) was just amazing. A great and friendly guide indeed. My friend and I were the only ones on this tour so it was like our own little private tour. Ventsislav recommended that we leave early which was a fantastic idea because there were only about 5 people when we arrived and over 100 when we left. He also took a detour on our journey to Melnik as there was a lot of traffic (which we visibly saw) and saved us at least 30 min on our journey!!!! Great trip with a great guide.
An extraodrinary day trip to the enchanting Rila Monastery and small town of Melnik, that is not to be missed. Melnik is quaint and set between some strange mountain dunes. Make sure to head to a view point to the see the whole town from above. Some lovely wine available and recommended. Thank you to our guide Ventsi!
