El "Parque das Nações" nació solo quince días después en el mismo lugar de la Expo 98 (Exposición Mundial), en una zona de 330 hectáreas.Con una intensa rehabilitación urbana en los años siguientes, donde anteriormente había refinerías, almacenes, vertederos abiertos y mataderos, se convirtió en la zona más noble de Lisboa con una construcción moderna, con una conexión directa a las estaciones de tren y metro que simplifican considerablemente los viajes al centro de Lisboa.Con el fin de la Exposición, se usaron los espacios de los centros empresariales y culturales que se habían usado en la Expo, como el Pabellón Atlántico (ahora la ciudad de Meo Arena), el oceanario, la Torre Vasco da Gama, el Teatro Camões, los pabellones de Lisboa, y la Feria internacional de Lisboa (FIL), entre otros.Un auténtico éxito ya que la parte oriental de la ciudad adquirido así un nuevo barrio con una población principalmente de clase media-alta y, según la información facilitada por el municipio, también es la más joven y con mayor escolaridad.
Alfama, el barrio más antiguo de Lisboa, esta antigua Medina con pequeños caminos y callejones tiene un perfecto sistema de defensa durante el período Arabah en Portugal desde el siglo VIII hasta el siglo XII; después de la reconquista cristiana la civilización árabe que vivió aquí se trasladó al barrio de "Mouraria".Descubrir Alfama es sumergirse en la autenticidad portuguesa, el fado, la más típica y carismática música portuguesa, la cual nació en este barrio pobre en el medio de esta tristeza de los portugueses llamada "saudade".
La iglesia de San Antonio, construida en el lugar exacto donde San Antonio nació cerca de la Catedral de Lisboa, la construcción fue responsabilidad de D. Afonso Henriques (el primer rey de Portugal) en el siglo XII, cuando la ciudad fue conquistada por los moros.En este lugar ya existía una antigua mezquita y luego de los terremotos que azotaron Lisboa ha sido remodelada a través de los años hasta la forma que tiene hoy en día.
Continuando nuestro recorrido de Lisboa visitaremos el centro de Lisboa, "Baixa" y comprenderá la importancia del terrible terremoto de 1755 y lo que este mismo hizo cambiar la mentalidad de los portugueses e incluso la arquitectura portuguesa.Los edificios se construyeron en una forma completamente diferente, con calles más anchas y un montón de plazas, previendo que algo así pudiera pasar otra vez, incluso con un tipo de construcción antisísmica del siglo XVIII. El Marqués de Pombal fue el estadista responsable de la reconstrucción de Lisboa, así como de todos los cambios sociales y económicos que nacieron después del terremoto.
En la cima de "Parque Eduardo VII" (rey de Inglaterra) tenemos una maravillosa vista de la ciudad y ahí conoceremos la relación de Portugal e Inglaterra con sus numerosos tratados y alianzas, y sus efectos sobre la creación de nuevo país independiente en la colonia portuguesa de Brasil.Es el lugar perfecto para comprender por qué Lisboa está considerada como la ciudad de las siete colinas y también el motivo de la denominación "Baixa" de Lisboa.
La Torre de Belém o Belén es un barrio al oeste del centro de Lisboa, una visita obligada de Lisboa que combina los monumentos históricos, museos y muy bonitos jardines salpicados por las refrescantes aguas del estuario del Tajo.Lugar los astilleros y puertos de Lisboa y desde donde los exploradores portugueses del siglo XV descubrieron las rutas marítimas a la India, África y Brasil y que conmemora este glorioso pasado, financiado por la vasta riqueza que fluyó a Portugal desde las colonias. Tiempo libre para visitar el monasterio de los "Jerominos" del siglo XVI, así como la torre de Belém, esta bonita fortaleza y el monumento a los exploradores.
La visita y degustación a una fábrica de pasteles de Belém es obligatoria, este antiguo pastel de más de un siglo de edad que no ha permitido que el éxito cambie los deseos de uno de los primeros miembros de la familia de mantener un lugar único de venta de este maravilloso dulce portugués.
Es hora de "escalar" otra colina de Lisboa y conocer estos dos barrios tan diferentes y al mismo tiempo tan similares. El barrio de Bairro Alto, conocido por su encrucijada de calles que durante el fin de semana se llenan de miles de jóvenes, viene a disfrutar de lo que se conoce como el barrio más bohemio de Lisboa, al lado tenemos el barrio de Chiado, donde la cultura y el arte conviven. mano, o si no es aquí donde se concentra la gran mayoría de los teatros de Lisboa, como en las librerías más antiguas del mundo moderno.

Pedro, our driver and tour guide was informative, funny and a great driver. We enjoyed all the sites and the recommended lunch restaurant.
We were looking for a Lisbon tour and didn't have time to see Sintra, Fatima or tourist shopping, so we wanted a focus on the downtown area and history with a more local flavor. Manual and the driver did a great job in avoiding the crowds by walking the less traveled routes without missing the highlights we asked for. We learned a lot about the history and life in Lisbon while seeing the highlights. We had a great lunch that was devoid of tourists and busy with locals, yet making us feel welcome.
This tour was amazing very informative. Our driver . Pedro was amazing. We covered so much of Lisbon in the eight hour tour. The young man was very knowledgeable a native of Lisbon. I was so impressed could not have seen all that we’ve seen in one trip. We made many stops along the way we stopped and had lunch. It was just fantastic.

Paula was a wonderful tour guide. We told her up front that some of the mentioned stops weren't going to work for us given my husband's disability and our interests. She was great. She modified the tour on the go, and we were very pleased with the tour. She dropped us off in front of venues and parked her car and waited for us to get back. This minimized our walking, which we appreciated. Paula strongest attribute is her enthusiasm fur her home town. And how she knows how to get around all these winding steep roads is truly amazing. I highly recommend Paula and this tour.
Manuel is extremely knowledgeable. He speaks many languages and knows the city very well. I would recommend a walking tour instead of a car tour.
We are experienced travelers and have taken tours all over the world. This tour ranks as one of the best. Our guide, Rubin, listened to what our interests were and customized the tour to fit us. "No shopping". The car was comfortable and Rubin navigated the narrow streets while providing an excellent history of Lisbon. I need a cane to handle stairs and slopes, and Rubin went out of his way to accommodate my needs. We requested lunch in a non-tourist restaurant, and we had an excellent meal. Rubin made sure that someone in the restaurant could speak English. Once again, a wonderful tour of Lisbon.
Rubin was an amazing guide. We are experienced travelers and this was the best tour ever. Rubin is an excellent driver, navigating crowed streets while simultaneously providing an comprehensive background on the sites we were visiting. I am a photographer, and he was very helpful getting me into locations for great shots. His detailed knowledge of Lisbon history was outstanding, and he was able to provide additional information about our areas of interest. Great experience.

Excellent tour guide with broad knowledge of history and always very attentive and willing to pleased us. I will recommend this tour and specially Pedro.
Our driver took us around and didn't engage with my wife and I. He would drop us off and instead of walking with us to the viewing point like other guides he would stay at his vehicle and smoke. We also asked him to recommend a restaurant and he pushed us to a place where he left us to go have lunch with his wife. This seemed to be planned ahead of time. He was fairly knowledgeable about Lisbon but the full day tour could have been completed in a half day. I felt that I overpaid for the value received. He seemed to be driving in circles to extend the tour.

Manuel, our guide gave us detailed history of Lisbon. We stopped at various viewpoints with spectacular views. Manuel also took us to Cintra to see the palaces and the ruins of the Fort Manuel is very knowledgeable in the history of Portugal and I definitely recommend him as a tour guide
