1. Tejido de esteras de juncos: el camino del pueblo nos lleva a la casa de una familia que teje esteras con juncos que crecen abundantemente en los alrededores. 2. Orfanato Pagoda Inspiradora: donde alberga y cuida a más de 160 niños abandonados, huérfanos o de la calle. Los niños del orfanato son cuidados por un grupo de monjas budistas y voluntarios. Su objetivo es proporcionar a los niños un entorno seguro y afectuoso que disminuya sus desgracias y dé a sus vidas un mayor propósito y significado. Al ser una organización privada, el orfanato intenta proporcionar a sus niños comida, alojamiento, salud y educación. 3. Estatua gigante del Buda Amitabha a una altura de 68 metros, además de panorámicas panorámicas de los campos de arroz que se encuentran más allá. 4. Elaboración de fideos secos: Uno de los alimentos más típicos a partir de arroz cocido al vapor y procesado en trozos redondos secados al sol sobre los soportes de bambú que se venden en las posadas o tiendas. 5. This is the real deal for experiencing this part of the country's beauty, people, and food. A short ride to a wooden boat where we cruised up the beautiful and interesting Cai River to connect with a tri-wheel taxi (more like open-air cart which was fun) stopping to see birds of all types and then to the Loc Tho pagoda and neighboring school for disadvantaged children who seem happy and well cared for. Then to see sedge weaving with beautiful mats of different sizes (available for purchase at very reasonable prices). Then on to lunch at Chopsticks on the river for wonderful chicken, mackerel, shrimp and mixed dishes where we enjoyed talking with the owner. Then return river trip and visit to the Hindu Ponagar temple, and then tea back in town. All along the way Pham gave interesting summaries and insights into what we were seeing. This is the real deal, off the beaten path, where you also feel totally comfortable with Pham as guide.
