Simone was our tour guide and he was amazing! My kids insist this was the best part of our trip. He knew all the relevant and meaningful spots and was very accommodating. Excellent!!
Lots of fun going through the laneways. Our driver Antoni was such a treat. His knowledge of Rome was incredible. Lots of stops along the way and very flexible with the attractions we saw. Thanks so much Antoni. We will tell our Aussie friends !!
Fabulous way to see Rome! Karim had a wealth of information, was personable, knowledgeable of the city and challenged us with fun trivia contests.
Not Happy! Although it was fun riding on a golf cart with my family - we saw more road than sites. It was not the greatest start to our vacation. The itinerary says we stop at 13 places for 10minutes each and we did not get to stop and see half of them, and we felt ripped off. I thought that at the very least when I booked this tour for my family, we would get a chance to snap photos at each of these places. One of the main reasons we booked the tour was to see St. Peter’s Basilica up close. Guess what - not included - no time. This should have been our first stop!! Our family were promised by the driver we were going to St. Peter’s Basilica, we were told that there was no possible way we could, just after he announced we were en route. And this seemed to be an ongoing theme. We also did not go to the Spanish Steps or Villa Borghese, among others listed in the itinerary. The viator listing said brunch was included. We did get a water and gelato which were delicious. - that’s not brunch, so misleading. We were travelling with two kids and coming off a long flight we were hungry. Also - Our time slot was postponed to half an hour later than we booked. The golf cart is electric and it became a problem and caused delays, because it was not charged enough for the tour. We were left on the side of the road mud tour waiting for the driver to get the battery replaced. The driver was constantly distracted by his phone (phone calls and texting), and we were also told that his phone was not working either. A lot of our valuable time was wasted due to unforeseen circumstances not tour related. While it was nice to see what we did. We should’ve had the opportunity to finish our tour (that we paid for as described on Viator.) We did not get to see some of the main sites that were promised and anticipating, which was very disappointing. We did not feel like we were a priority. This tour was poorly planned out and we were being constantly told “no time” (no time to see the next site”, “no time as I have to pick up the next tour”, and that meant no time for our family! Not something we want to hear when we are supposed to be enjoying the day exploring.
We really enjoyed our tour today. It allowed us to see a lot of Rome in a fun and convenient way, especially in the extreme heat! Our guide, Karim, was the best! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. He treated us so well and made the experience top notch! Highly recommend!
Our tour guide Francesca was incredible. Very knowledgeable and super friendly. She was very accommodating allowing us to stop or detour as needed e.g. bathroom breaks, allowed us input into where we would like to go to get as much in as possible. Took us to a lovely sunset spot and some amazing places. It was nighttime going from 8pm to 11pm and it was brilliant, cooler temperature and fewer crowds. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone first time or return visitor. It's a great way to see everything and decide what you want to go back to. Thank you.
Take this excursion. Valerio was a 10/10. We had already done other tours and he took us to out of the way places we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Very pleasant relaxing day! No walking covered a lot if ground.
In the summer months this is a hot and extensive tour. Be prepared to drive through traffic. Our tour guide, Antoni was incredible, he navigated traffic carefully, he was attentive, answered questions was really passionate and knowledgeable about the tour, the sites. He was professional and showed up precisely on time. If he didn't know the answer to a question he said he'd find out and did mid-tour. Was well worth the money and I'd recommend. Just a note Romes roads are bumpy, wear your seatbelt and use the arm rests. This will keep you safe as you navigate the varied conditions of streets in Rome.
This was a very fun tour for our family of 14. Mauro and Matteo were amazing guides; very knowledgeable and personable. It was a perfect way to get familiar with the area. We had a great time. Highly recommend this tour if you’re in Rome!!!
I have never left a review like this, but this tour was a complete scam. First, we were told that, even though this tour lists pickup and dropoff, that we could not get picked up at our apartment and had to go to a meet up point. Fine. Then, the night before our tour, Margherita from the company reached out and asked us to move our start time from 9:00 to 8:30 because the tour guide had a family commitment in the afternoon. Not ideal, but fine. Then apparently the company told the guide 8:00 so he started messaging us from the assigned meet up point wanting to know where we were and why we were late. I explained that we were told 8:30 and we'd be there on time. When we got there at 8:30 he told us he had another tour after ours and that the mix up with start times would be cutting it close for him (so much for that "family commitment"). We asked if at the end of the tour we could be dropped at the Pantheon (one of the scheduled stops anyways) because we had tickets to see it afterwards. The guide told us he wasn't sure he'd be able to do that but he'd see. Off we went on the tour. The description includes 13 locations and says that you will stop for a snack and drink at a place by the Colosseum. The description also says bottled water will be available. We went to only 2 stops on the list (the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona), some random church that wasn't on the list (to see a Michelagelo that was hidden behind scaffolding and couldn't even be seen), and the Orange Garden (which wasn't on the list). We never stopped for a snack and drink. And there was no bottled water. I sat in the front and struggled to hear what our guide was saying. My mom and sister sat in the second row and couldn't hear him at all. Eventually they gave up even trying to listen and I just repeated what he'd said whenever we stopped. This was when he was even trying to talk to us. He spent the majority of the time testing, talking on his phone, and sending voice notes to god knows who. All while driving the golf cart so that wasn't too safe. And then to top it all off, the guide told us that because we wanted to end at the Pantheon he would have to end the tour early to make his next tour. We were dropped off at 11:00, after only a 2.5 hour tour instead of a 3 hour tour we'd paid for. So to recap: we didn't get picked up at our accommodations, had our tour time changed, went to 2 of 13 stops, were given little to know information, did not get any water, didn't stop for a snack and drink, and had our tour cut short by 30 minutes. Overall, this was the worst tour I've ever done anywhere. A complete fraud. I've already requested a complete refund from Viator and if I don't get it I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card company.
Dear Kaitlyn, First of all, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points while also acknowledging the aspects of the tour that clearly fell below our standards. Regarding the pickup, our tour includes pickup and drop-off within the designated pickup area specified in the activity description. Unfortunately, because our vehicles are electric golf carts with limited speed and range, it is not always possible to reach accommodations located outside that area without significantly impacting the quality and duration of the tour for all guests. We also sincerely apologize for the change of departure time. The adjustment was made due to operational issues that arose the day before the tour. While our intention was to ensure the tour could still take place smoothly, we understand that schedule changes can be frustrating and we regret the inconvenience. As for the concerns regarding the itinerary, stops, information provided during the tour, refreshments, water, communication and tour duration, we take these comments very seriously. We are currently reviewing all of these points directly with the driver to understand exactly what happened and whether the tour was conducted according to our procedures and the standards we promise our guests. If any of these elements were not delivered as described, then that is our responsibility, and we sincerely apologize. The experience you describe is not representative of the level of service we strive to provide every day. We appreciate your feedback because it helps us identify areas where we need to improve. We will use what happened in your case to further invest in staff training, operational procedures and quality controls to ensure situations like this do not happen again. Regarding your refund request, we are also reviewing the matter internally and will contact you directly as soon as possible with an update. We want to handle the situation fairly and professionally. While we cannot change the experience you had, we can assure you that your comments are being taken seriously and will result in a thorough internal review. Once again, we are sorry that we disappointed you and we thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. Kind regards, Royal Tours Rome
