Desde la capital, viajamos a la principal atracción turística de Macedonia, la ciudad de Ohrid. Ohrid se encuentra a orillas del lago más antiguo de Europa, el lago Ohrid. En todas partes en Ohrid, las impresionantes vistas del lago llenarán sus ojos y cámaras. Llamado Jerusalén en los Balcanes, Ohrid es el centro desde donde se extendió el cristianismo en estas tierras.

El antiguo teatro de Ohrid se encuentra al pie de la ladera oriental de la colina más alta de Ohrid, debajo de la fortaleza de Samuel. Los constructores construyeron este antiguo teatro entre dos colinas que lo protegían de los vientos y, por lo tanto, el antiguo teatro tiene una acústica increíble. Debido a su acústica, es elegido como uno de los escenarios principales donde tiene lugar el Ohrid Summer Festival.
La pintura al fresco de esta iglesia representa algunas de las primeras obras de los pintores medievales más prestigiosos Michael y Eutychios. Su dramática expresividad fue la base de la nueva tendencia en el arte bizantino de esta época, llamada "El renacimiento de los paleólogos", que fue el último capítulo del arte bizantino.
La fortaleza se remonta a la época medieval, y sigue en pie hoy, vigilando la ciudad y el lago Ohrid.
En el sitio arqueológico Plaoshink se encuentra el complejo de la Iglesia de San Panteleimon y San Clemente de Ohrid (donde fue enterrado San Clemente, el fundador del alfabeto cirílico). Este es el lugar desde donde se extendió el cristianismo en estas tierras.
De pie solo en un acantilado con vistas al lago de Ohrid, sobre el asentamiento pesquero de Kaneo, es uno de los hitos del casco antiguo de Ohrid y un símbolo favorito en toda la ciudad. La arquitectura es una combinación de elementos bizantinos y armenios.
La iglesia está dedicada a la Sabiduría Sagrada, construida en el siglo IX, sobre los cimientos de una basílica cristiana primitiva del siglo V. La iglesia sirvió como iglesia catedral durante el fallo del zar Samoil, y era la iglesia central del patriarcado del zar Samoil en ese momento. La iglesia tal como es hoy fue renovada y adornada con frescos en la época del arzobispo Leo, entre 1037 y 1056.
Este es un asentamiento neolítico, reconstruido de manera perfecta, por lo que podemos imaginar cómo vivían las personas prehistóricas en el agua, preservando a sí mismos de los peligros del continente.

We did not want to return without seeing this charming town, which is on the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. Lake Ohrid is a precious lake that hosts more than 200 fish species. We are very lucky to have chosen this tour. Communicating with the agency was very fast and easy. Local guide was so knowledgable and friendly. If u do not have enough time to stay here. I highly recommend this tour

Naumka.kuzeska (insta) was our guide, she is originally from Ohrid and knows the city and history very well. We learned interesting facts and take the best pictures. He speaks many languages and is very friendly in general. If you see Ohrid it should be your guide!! We'll definitely be back.

This was a very good tour. We were met at our hotel and driven to the various points of interest in Ohrid. The walking tour of the old town was excellent, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide
We have visited 3 Balkan countries, and Ohrid was one of the highlights of our trip. Its much more prettier than on the photos, and wster is perfectly clear. Tour did meet our expectations, and to daul away without the guide it would be pretty but much less interesting. Our guide bob was easy going polite and interesting and he made our day. Hope to come back here with my family and stay longer, and for sure i will contact Balkan experience again.. They are very professional.
I enjoyed the landscape on the way to Ohrid. The guide Daniel provided me with a lot of information about this old town. The lake was so clear. The reconstruction of a prehistoric museum on the water called Bay of bones was something extraordinary. Visiting this place is a must.

The driver Toni and the guide Bob were such a good team. They were on time, informative, polite, and knowledgeable. Ohrid was something that I will always remember. Medieval churches, a great natural lake with crystal clear water, surrounded by high mountains. Bob recommended a restaurant by the lake and we enjoyed the specialty, grilled Ohrid trout.
