Las bodegas de Kumeu se remontan a la década de 1930 cuando las familias vinícolas de origen croata establecieron la vinificación en la zona. Estas familias todavía viven y trabajan en el área hoy en día, elaborando algunos de los vinos más famosos de Nueva Zelanda. Estos viñedos contrastan con el espectacular paisaje costero de la zona. Disfrute de un almuerzo en un restaurante contemporáneo de viñedos, pruebe vinos de renombre mundial y maravíllese con la costa costera bordeada de surf. Tu primera parada es en Soljans Vineyard. Soljans ha ganado muchos premios por sus vinos y también son ampliamente reconocidos en Nueva Zelanda como productores expertos de vinos espumosos de método tradicional (fermentados en botella). Disfrute de un almuerzo y una cata de vinos en el restaurante Soljans Winery. La bodega está construida pensando en la luz del sol y sirve comida de estilo mediterráneo con un toque neozelandés, mostrando productos frescos de temporada de toda la región.
Un corto trayecto en coche nos lleva a nuestra siguiente bodega que es el río Kumeu. Creada por la familia Brajkovich en los años 40, todas sus uvas son cosechadas a mano y la bodega sigue siendo administrada por la familia (¡Michael Brajkovich fue el primer Maestro del Vino de Nueva Zelanda!). El río Kumeu es mundialmente famoso por su Chardonnay y también produce una gama de otros vinos.
Visita las arenas negras de la playa de Muriwai: observa a los alcatraces volando a lo lejos y disfruta de las vistas de esta impresionante playa para surfistas. (Se espera que el acceso a la colonia de alcatraces se vuelva a abrir en algún momento, pero actualmente no es accesible)
Su última cata de vinos es en West Brook Winery. La puerta de la bodega West Brook mira a través de un idílico estanque de patos y un área de picnic en terrazas para remar fila tras fila de viñas. Los vinos reflejan el verdadero carácter varietal y sus orígenes regionales únicos. Sin excepción, son de primera calidad y han ganado numerosos premios. This was a wonderful afternoon of wine tasting at 3 wineries which included a delicious lunch. We were given several choices for lunch which included a glass of wine. We also went to the Tasman sea to observe the gnat birds. The views were stunning and lots of opportunities to take photos. Erin our guide was prompt very knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating. It was a lovely afternoon and I highly recommend as no worries re transport and all tastings arranged ahead of time. A lovely day!

What a lovely tour to do..my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our driver guide Erin was fantastic! The wineries were divine, the lunch was fabulous, and our trip to the gannet colony with the breathtaking views was magical..highly recommend and would book this tour again when I come back to Auckland. Loved it!

The wine region in NZ is small but mighty, with many wonderful wines and beautiful vineyards. We loved the local chardonnay and flew home with some tawny ports. Kelley was incredibly knowledgeable and made our tour special.

4 wineries visited along with other noteworthy areas of interest outside of Auckland showing us the beauty of the coastline and local birds. Wineries well chosen. Meredith (our guide) very knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. She was always on time and went out of her way to make it a meaningful day. The day was so informative and fun. Skipping this would have been a mistake.

Jason was a great guide for both the wine region as well as having an in depth knowledge of the native environment. We had a great time with the three wineries we toured. The lunch was amazing! The side trip to the beach was a great break in between tastings. His recommendations for local Auckland restaurants was spot on. We would highly recommend this small intimate tour of boutique wineries.
Catriona was our guide on the day & made this tour so much fun; she has a bubbly personality & is very knowledgeable. It was a lovely day & we enjoyed our visits to the 3 very different wineries, the first one including lunch. We spent a reasonable time at each one, sipping our salubrious wines & chatting amiably within our small group. The absolute highlight for us was our visit to the black sand beach where a great galaxy of gannets were nesting; simply stunning!
A very pleasant afternoon of wine and wildlife watching. The wine tastings were quite varied and well-paced. Delicious lunch with no wait. The gannet colony is so interesting… the time there goes fast!
