The absolute best thing we did in Tamarindo. The guide was excellent and the tour was so fun. At Playa Viejo, we saw the howler monkeys. We brought along 2 kids (14, 18) and everyone had an absolute blast. 10/10 recommend. Would absolutely do again.
I booked this tour for my family for our trip to Costa Rica. I was asked by the guide if I wanted to make the trip private so we could take our time and they would even provide snorkel gear. He told me how much more it would be and a day later I said ok. After I said “ok”, he told me the price he gave me was wrong and then almost doubled it. I should have tried to cancel the tour right then and there, but we were eager to go. When I finally worked it out with them (still more than they originally said), and paid the extra for the private session, he told us to arrive at 8:45 am when on Viator the arrival time said 8:30 am for a 3 hour tour. When we got to the place, our guide was nothing special - no personality very little english and no conversation on the ride. Each time we stopped he seemed bored and anxious to leave. Additionally, there was no snorkel gear as previously promised. Overall, we felt rushed at the stops and that the guide really didn’t have much interest in anything other than getting back. On the way home we drove so fast that It was obvious he had other people after us. We arrived back at 11:20 am instead of 11:30. I know the amount of time may seem minimal, but for already arriving late and paying just under $1,000 for this excursion made me really annoyed that I wasn’t getting what I paid for. Overall, the idea of this tour is great and the beaches were nice if we had a little more time to enjoy them. This tour company was nothing special and honestly, I feel like I was taken advantage of. I am sure there are other tour companies in the area that would do a better job than this one.
What made this a 4 instead of lower is the company, a mother-daughter duo, who were also on the tour with us. First, the equipment was in great condition. Pick-up and drop off at our hotel was seamless. Since the confirmation indicated bandanas would be available for purchase, I was looking forward to that, especially since the weather had been very dry. We've done tours throughout the Caribbean and the operators ALWAYS provide eye and face protection, so this was a disappointment. I communicated this to the guide and he didn't seem to care at all. I understand everyone has to make a living and that is the only reason this review is still a 4.
I paid $100 for a 2 hour ATV and we only short distant and it was not a 2 hour tour, you need to stop lying to people and stop giving them what they paid for will never come back and will tell people how bad this company is,just here to rope people off
I liked the different beaches. The bikes were well maintained. Got time to spend at the different t locations as well. Super nice guide as well and nice refreshments at the end.
The atv tour on quads was alot of fun. It should be longer to spend some more time on the beaches. The tour guide was friendly and easy to get along with. Do not get a smoothie at the little beach bar at the end of play conchol unless you want food poisoning. I suffered for 2.5 days by making that mistake. Bad mangoes, poor food safety or a combination of both. Stick to a bottle of water or coke.
We are a family of 5 and this was our first time in Costa Rica and on ATVs. This was a fun experience and a great way to see remote beautiful beaches. We were there on March 25, 2026. This is the dry season so the ride was very dusty and you get really dirty. The dust is my only complaint. Next time I would take a face covering. The ride to and from the beaches took about 20 minutes on the ATVs going through a town, past schools, and where locals live all dirt roads which was not our favorite but the beaches were beautiful and all very different. You will get a chance to swim at each stop. The guides were very nice and made us all feel very comfortable and safe. Water and pineapple is offered after the tour so take a water with you.
We went to three different beautiful beaches north from tamarindo, each one so unique. The second one we stopped a bar/restaurant that was so peaceful, picture perfect. The third beach had beautiful white sand with an incredible view. The dirt roads cause a lot of dust to fly up, so make sure to cover your mouth and your eyes well! Only thing that would have made it five stars for me personally, was since there was only 2 of us, going faster would have made it a lot more fun.
We had a great time. Our tour guide ED took us through the back road to visit three beaches. We had a lot of fun. Thank you again.
Great guides! three beach locations very nice! easy to learn and very fun! this was our second trip and will do it again! staff was great!
