Nuestro guía te llevará por el corazón del parque, sumergiéndote en la importancia del Monumento Nacional. Pero eso no es todo. Prepárese para desentrañar las capas de la sociedad costarricense mientras revelamos la histórica estación de tren. Nuestros guías cuentan el papel fundamental que esta estación ha desempeñado en la configuración cultural de la nación.
Nuestro guía lo guiará hasta el barrio de Otoya. Este animado barrio destaca por sus calles arboladas, edificios históricos y una gran cantidad de galerías de arte, cafeterías con encanto y restaurantes de alta cocina. Aquí, los visitantes tienen la oportunidad de disfrutar de una fusión única entre lo antiguo y lo moderno.

Próxima parada El Teatro Nacional de San José es un tesoro histórico y un símbolo emblemático de Costa Rica. Construido a finales del siglo XIX, este majestuoso teatro es un testimonio vivo de la riqueza y pasión por las artes que define a la nación costarricense. La fachada del teatro te dejará sin aliento, con su espléndido estilo neoclásico y su imponente columnata. Al ingresar, será recibido por una deslumbrante muestra de lujo y elegancia en cada detalle arquitectónico. La catedral es un lugar muy importante para San José, construcción que tomó más de 50 años, con hermosos acabados arquitectónicos.
Luego continuaremos caminando hacia el Banco Central de Costa Rica, ubicado en San José, es una institución financiera clave y símbolo del desarrollo económico y la estabilidad monetaria del país. Desempeña un papel fundamental en la supervisión y regulación del sistema financiero, así como en la emisión y control de la moneda nacional. El edificio del Banco Central es una destacada obra arquitectónica que refleja la importancia y solidez de esta institución. Fue construido en la década de 1980 y su elegante diseño moderno lo convierte en un hito visual en el paisaje urbano de San José.
Finalmente seguiremos caminando hasta el mercado central. Con más de un siglo de historia, este mercado es una parada obligada para los visitantes que quieran explorar la auténtica vida cotidiana costarricense y descubrir una gran variedad de productos locales. Al ingresar al Mercado Central, te sumergirás en un ambiente animado y colorido. Sus estrechos y laberínticos pasillos albergan una amplia gama de puestos y tiendas que ofrecen todo tipo de productos, desde frutas, verduras y mariscos frescos hasta artesanía, ropa y souvenirs. Uno de los principales atractivos del mercado es su variada oferta gastronómica. Aquí encontrará numerosos restaurantes y sodas (pequeños locales de comida) donde podrá probar platos típicos costarricenses, como gallo pinto (arroz y frijoles), casado (una combinación de arroz, frijoles, carne, plátano frito y ensalada), y una amplia selección de deliciosos bocadillos y bebidas tradicionales.

What an experience! Juan Manuel was an AWESOME tour guide! He was thorough and so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all things Costa Rica! He took his time walking us around San Jose and highlighting lots of information about past leaders, politics, architecture, food, birds, and even the Detroit Pistons! Juan Manuel was truly a joy to be around, and by the end of our tour, we felt like family! We had quick stops for ice cream, coffee, and souvenirs as well. If you love history, culture, and want to feel the hustle and bustle of downtown San Jose, this tour is a must do! We had a very informative and interesting tour with a lovely young lady. Sorry forgot her name but it started with a O. Unfortunately this is only a 2 hour walking tour and is quite expensive. Actually it cost more than European city tours.

On Sundays, however, the Central Market is closed, so the itinerary is slightly shorter. Also, your booking was for a private tour, which is priced higher than our regular shared walking tour. This was an excellent walking tour of central San Jose. We saw all of the highlights of this under-rated city. Our guide, Frank was exceptional. He was friendly and informative and was genuinely proud of his city and country. He made it a very enjoyable experience. The small breaks (with an included water, small gift, and coffee) were a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this experience when in San Jose.

We just completed our small group walking tour with Andrea (our local guide) who was excellent and so knowledgeable about the city of San Jose and Costa Rica in general. In my opinion, this is a must-do activity for visitors interested in learning more about Costa Rica and its rich history. We are glad we did not skip this tour!
