Itinerario

This is a rustic experience on a wooden boat - 30 min ride to the cave from Rangko village. The cave is interesting and rather unique, although small. What you should know is that water shoes are a MUST. Due to the low tide, the boats are anchored further from the beach and there is a walk through murky waters, filled with spiky algae, sea urchins and jelly fish. This should be listed in the tour description. We weren’t prepared with proper footwear as this was not communicated. But we enjoyed the cave swimming experience and the guide was very kind to us. The snorkeling was ok, although not spectacular.
The actual cave and snorkeling spot is stunning and of course the guide is lovely but I found the whole experience quite rushed and overpriced compared to other boat activities in the area.
The guide was nice, and the Cave was beautyfull
I have always had positive experiences with our guides. This is the first negative one. From the outset the diver who I suppose was meant to be our guide, gave us an incorrect pick up point. He acknowledged that and then laughed heartily. I am 69 years old, extremely fit and healthy, but I am 69 nonetheless and it’s normal for your balance to be less than younger people. Walking up and down slippery stones in the wrong direction to find the driver is not funny. He refused to drive closer. The driver said nothing at all and opened the door for us and the lovely group we were with to get out. Someone asked and he said stay here and wait for the boat. We had no clue what was happening. He watched me struggle to get on the boat, he was already on it, with his arms crossed. No communication, no sign that he was at all interested in anyone’s safety. The people operating the boat were great. The cave was excellent and I watched other guide assisting people down to the water, shining torches and creating a warm and safe environment. Our driver was no-where to be seen. At one point I injured my foot and a person from the boat was quick to help, thank you, you were gone before I could give you a tip. Beautiful cave, nice walks, snorkeling was great, the sunset walk was too dangerous for me (loose stones underfoot) but very good from a small way up. It was a shame about the guide, if that’s what he was meant to be.
We booked a half day Rangko Cave with PT Nagia Tour, Labuan Bajo. Look for Roland +62 821 1533 1266. Roland is very patient, helpful, gentle in nature to help you enjoy your trip in Labuan Bajo. We had a good time at Rangko cave, swimming, taking beautiful pictures. He also can arrange Komodo island Open day trip and 3D2Ncruise depart every fri.
Overall a nice way to spend an afternoon. The guide was a student but fine. The boat had seen better days but was fine for the 20 minutes each way trip. Snorkeling was interesting with just a mask and snorkel but no fins provided ?? Fish life and coral were better than expected but we had dived the day before so weren’t expecting to be over awed. Trip to the lookout to watch sunset with top 300 friends was pleasant and nice way to finish. Would recommend.
Disappointing no English no fins for snorkeling no torch to see the cave.
I booked this trip 2 days before I went and within an hour I had confirmation and a message from Alba tours. The whole trip ran on time and was very well organised. Anchel was the driver and guide, he picked me up in an air-conditioned car with young student guide, Alfred. We did a quick and easy hike up Amelia Hill first, then onto the boat at a small village. Next, Boleng beach where we saw dolphins before stopping for a snorkel. The water is calm warm and there were so many different fish to see. Unfortunately the coral is dying, but it was still very beautiful to see and there was plenty of time to snorkel. Next we went on a short boat ride to Rangko cave and docked at a wooden jetty. A short, easy hike to the cave, good shoes are probably best for the rocky part. Because I went in the morning the sun was not shining in the cave, but it was still an amazing experience. The water was slightly cooler than the sea, but not uncomfortable. Once yours eyes adjust you can see plenty of detail and floating around on your back you can see the cave features and enjoy the little birds flying around. I was the only tourist on this trip and it was very peaceful. In the cave another two tourists came with another tour company and it was lovely and quiet. Also, the two men that ran the boat were very efficient and easy going. After the cave we were allowed to chill on the beach and buy snacks and look around. There is also a toilet there .
Very good organisation, nice and friendly tour guide, cave, snorkelling and sunset amazing 😃
I have absolutely wonderful time with Alba tour guides. I boarded authentic wooden boat. It was so unusual but wonderful experience in terms of climbing in/out and going through pier with a lot of missing parts. If you are Western abd with some mobility difficulties, this tour is not for you. But you want some adventure in your life, go ahead!!! My incredible driver Ansel took me from hotel, show some sights, and safely bring to this small village, where tour started. The road has non-stop turns, and ups and downs. If you are prompt to motion sickness, please think ahead. Snorkeling was fantastic in pristine clear water. Coral reef is alive and beautiful. When we left our second stop, cave, monkey was there.
