El pico más alto de Nueva Zelanda merece algo más que un drive-past. Este tour en grupo pequeño de un día completo desde Queenstown viaja hacia el norte a través de la garganta de Kawarau, antes de dirigirse a través del distrito de Mackenzie hasta el lago Pukaki y el parque nacional Aoraki Mt Cook. Su guía lidera el día con conocimiento local, topónimos te reo maoríes e historias de la tierra. Con 3724 metros, Aoraki es el pico más alto de Nueva Zelanda y un ancestro sagrado para Ngā Tahu iwi. Tienes de dos a dos horas y media en el parque nacional : camina por la pista del mirador del glaciar Tasman a través de las morrenas de Haupapa, el glaciar más largo de Nueva Zelanda, o explora el monte Cook Village. Vuelos panorámicos y Heli Hike disponibles en el día. Rumbo a casa : los acantilados de arcilla de Ōmārama, el salmón del High Country, el Hotel Cardrona (1863), y un mirador Crown Range sobre Queenstown desde la carretera principal más alta de Aotearoa. Salga en dirección norte. Guía presenta el día al salir de la capital de aventura de Nueva Zelanda. Salida: 6:30 AM.
Seguimos la garganta de Kawarau a lo largo de la carretera estatal 6. El agua azul helada y el histórico puente colgante, cuna del puenting neozelandés, son visibles desde la carretera. Nota a partir del 1 de noviembre de 2026 esto será reemplazado con la parada en Wanaka.
Pase por Cromwell, un municipio del centro de Otago conocido por sus viñedos y frutas de hueso. Vistas del Lago Dunstan.
Esta parada solo está incluida en tours posteriores al 1 de noviembre de 2026. Aquí la Guía recoge el almuerzo mientras exploras la orilla del lago, hogar de #ThatWānakaTree. Vistas hacia el Parque Nacional Mt Aspiring. Los viajeros con base en Wānaka se unen aquí.
Parada en Ōmārama, "el lugar de la luz" en te reo maorí. El cercano Valle de Ahuriri fue un lugar de rodaje para Mulán de acción en vivo de Disney.
Un lago artificial construido para la red hidroeléctrica de la cuenca Mackenzie. Popular para el remo, la pesca y el esquí acuático.
Lago de alimentación glaciar que cambia de azul hielo a agua profunda. En días despejados, Aoraki se eleva directamente desde el borde del agua.
Aproximadamente el 40% del parque está cubierto por glaciares. Diecinueve picos superan los 3000 metros. Opciones : Pista del Mirador del Glaciar Tasman o Valle Hooker o Pueblo del Monte Cook y Centro de Visitantes, vuelos panorámicos o Heli Hike (se vende por separado). Hora de recogida 2: 15 h.
Alimenta a los peces y compra salmón fresco local. Se omite si el tour se retrasa.

Deje a los viajeros con base en Wānaka antes del Crown Range.

Dreamlike landscapes; it is very cold, so you need to wear good footwear and warm clothing. I recommend watching the three movies of The Lord of the Rings before the excursion; also, if you have difficulty walking, I suggest bringing trekking poles, as they will help a lot during the trekking.
We waited at the pick up point and nobody showed up. I called Viator and they said it was canceled. We were never informed that they canceled it. We waited for almost an hour.

Glen was amazing! He was very informative and made the experience memorable. He took us to beautiful sites and did not rush us in between breaks. I highly recommend him
Not worth it if the weather is cloudy. Stops are more of touristy on the way there. Bus was comfortable seating but was cold and could not hear quide from back.
Destination fantastic however the trip there was unpleasant. In a van with only seat available was back seat which is slightly more elevated then others. My tall husband couldn’t see out window without leaning over. Ride more bumpy, noise from road and heater fan right over our head, which made it almost impossible to hear tour guide who mumbled half of his sentences. He missed his turn a few times and seemed to be a bit unorganized. Very long day. But views fantastic. Very little time allowed for the hike, felt very rushed.
We enjoyed the driver Marina, being so informative about the region and new zealand history and random facts. She made the time travelling more interesting. She was a pleasure. The only problem was that viator promised water and light snacks but we never got them. We needed the water for our trek and was fortunate that we found out in time to buy water ourselves. It was supposed to be provided by another driver who was meeting us with other passengers but there was a communication issue with the administrative staff. This was not Marinas fault.
Felix was a great guide with a lot of local information which I enjoy. Lupines and many sheep everywhere. Shrek the sheep information and kids books at Tarras as well as real fruit ice cream. The Hooker track to closure was beautiful and rainy. My son enjoyed the fresh salmon at the salmon farm. Recommend.
Great day tour with our guide Jeff. The ride over to Aoraki was comfortable and the pick up and drop off locations were convenient. The views of Lake Pukaki and Mt. Cook were beautiful! It is most definitely worth it.

Amazing trip!! Dion (sp?) the tour guide is an absolute gem! Very knowledgeable, very thorough in providing information and educating in fun facts and history of nearby places. Excellent experience, multiple stops for toilet and a snack, very well and enjoyable spent time. Loved it!
