Kompong Kleang es uno de los pueblos flotantes del lago Tonle Sap. El lago Tonle Sap es el lago de agua dulce más grande del sudeste asiático. En la estación seca, el contenido del lago es de 2700 km2. En la temporada de lluvias, el tamaño del lago aumenta solo 3 veces respecto a la temporada seca. Hay más de 200 especias de pescado. Tiene una conexión muy espacial con el río Mekong durante la temporada de lluvias y es un embalse para restaurar el agua del río Mekong. Hay cinco provincias alrededor del lago: Siem Reap, Battambong, Pusat, Kompong Chhnang y Kompong Thom. Todas estas 5 provincias tienen un muy buen potencial para el cultivo de arroz debido a que el principal suministro de agua proviene del lago. En temporada de lluvias se puede viajar en barco a la ciudad capital, Phnom Penh.

Fantastic morning spent visiting the Kompong Kleang floating village on the Tonle Sap Lake. Excellent service provided by Ra and his friend our driver. Ra is a fantastic tour guide. His English is very good and fluent. Touring with him is a history lesson in itself. He has vast knowledge of not only the Temples, but Siem Reap and surrounding areas. The beauty of touring with him is the hidden gems, where locals hang out, he will take you to. The van is large, clean and I always feel safe! The Floating Hut Restaurant is so relaxing after a visit to Kulen Mountain so, make sure to stop! Speaking of stopping, when or if you see something of interest, he will pull over so you can shop, taste local street food and find new off the beaten track delights.
