Vale la pena visitar esta maravilla de la naturaleza solo por el paisaje pintoresco, incluso si los monasterios no estuvieran allí. La cosa es que lo son. Los antiguos monasterios griegos se mezclan perfectamente con el entorno que los rodea creando una sensación única en la vida. Es mi gira más popular (más de 100 veces al año) y hay una buena razón para ello. Durante el viaje, explicaré mucho sobre geología, historia, religión ortodoxa y el impacto que Meteora ha tenido en Grecia a lo largo de los siglos. Tenemos un viaje de casi 100 minutos hasta llegar a Meteora. una breve parada opcional en un taller de íconos local (10-20 minutos) Agios Stefanos es el que tiene el acceso más fácil Great Meteoron es el más grande de todos (400 pasos están involucrados) Los monasterios Roussanou Nunnery y Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas son pequeños monasterios, ambos excelentes opciones. El monasterio de Varlaam (cerrado los jueves y viernes) es el que tiene la mejor vista Por supuesto, todos los monasterios abiertos son buenas opciones. Mucha gente prefiere no hacer todos esos pasos del monasterio (100-400 dependiendo del monasterio) si es así dedicamos más tiempo a hacer fotos. Para que siempre puedas decidir en el acto lo que más te convenga. La mayoría de la gente visita 2 monasterios, pero si decides visitar más no es un problema para nosotros. Our tour from our ship to the monasteries of meteora was excellent. Costis our driver and our guide was at the ship before we disembarked. He took us to three monasteries and would have added more if we wanted to but we had seen enough. They are wonderful and amazing; highly recommend. He made sure we were able to efficiently see all we wanted. He added a few ‘secret’ sites. It is well worth the extra cost of a private tour. Highly recommend this tour and guide.
Demetrius picked us up at the port….he was on time but we were confused…he was patient and we all made connections. Two of us (old and not eager to climb) asked to be dropped off at the village square to drink coffee and admire the view.). Two of us climbed and enjoyed Meteora. My son said “ the photos are spectacular, but they do NOT do the site justice! “. It was amazing and we were all glad to have seen and done what we could. Private tour gives access to many more photo ops and unique locations that the big bus tours do not get to. Our guide Costas was well informed of the area and kept us entertained for the journey to and from Meteora from our cruise ship. He was on time, polite and happy to answer all of our endless questions. Ask him to take you to the bakery outside of Volos. The treats are out of this world.

Great experience for the family and it was fully customizable for our reduced timeline. The monasteries were amazing to see, and we felt like we were able to do so much in such a short period. The recommended location for lunch was fantastic!
