The guide gave a great history of the market area along with background of all the food we sampled.
Kensington Market is a fascinating part of Toronto, and Odile was a lovely guide as we explored its nooks and crannies. The cuisines we sampled included Israeli, Jamaican, Japanese, Mexican, and Tibetan, and everything was very good. As a bonus, we got to enjoy several patios you wouldn’t know were there from the street. Odile came equipped with a lot of history and insight, and all in all it was an excellent time.
Our tour guide, Damian, was super knowledgeable about the area. He walked us through Kensington Market. The tour started at one of the first coffee shops in Kensington that served a savory and flaky Jewish meat patty (can’t remember the name) and then stopped us into several mom and pop restaurants to enjoy local street food throughout Kensington. The pacing was great and kept us entertained. Altogether, we had 5 treats — Jamaican meat patty from a tiny carribean market, two kinds of takoyaki from an even tinier restaurant run by one woman but with a steady flow of customers, vegetarian and pork momos from a Tibetan restaurant, barbacoa tacos from one of the first tacos places on Kensington (my son had the fish tacos which was just as good as the barbacoa, and then the finale at a Churro stands. Overall, a great way to spend the morning.
Our tour with Odile was excellent! She shared interesting information about the restaurants we visited and the history of Kensington Market. Be ready to eat!

Wonderful tour with Odile with flavors from around the world. There was a good mix of culture, history and food. My wife and I are traveling with our daughters (9 & 11) and felt like it was a good family activity.
