I enjoyed the show very much with my family, I wasn’t expecting beach balls throwed in the crowd, that was fun to interact.
We were in Las Vegas with our kids. They are 6 and 9 so we were looking for a family friendly show. We picked the Popovich Pet Theatre. The kids had so much fun. We were entertained as parents also. The theatre was small so all of the seats had a good view. The only issue we had was that the seats were very uncomfortable and starting to fall apart.
While the comedy is very outdated. I love the fact that he rescues all of his animals and gives them so much love. the tricks performed by the pets are fantastic and our 5 year old loved every bit. I would highly recommend this show to families or anyone with a love of animals. Popovich also spends time at the end of the show meeting his fans and posing for pictures with some of his pets which is a lovely touch. I would love to know how he managed to train a husky to do tricks? I had a husky many years ago and could barely get him to look at me never mind listen!
The show is pretty good the whole experience was let down by the theater staff. Who just lied about the drinks package, didn’t it record the ticket and then demanded to see my tickets and ID after the show. After they released it was their own fault they didn’t even apologise. I then was I was made to wait for a refund on the bogus drinks package which never came.
Overpriced for the experience. OK for kids under the age of six but other than that very cheesy . They need a new sound system because it’s very hard to understand what they’re saying.
Not only are all the animals clearly much loved and well trained, well, almost all, except a few disobedient cats, but cats are very difficult to train… but the Man Himself, Gregory Popovich, is a great entertainer: jangler, acrobat, comedian, fantastic all the way! It’s fun, this is my second time and the show has grown up, added so much. My favorite new star is Balerina Capuchina (a lovely pink pig)! **
Popovich is a skilled performer with obvious Chaplain-esque skills in juggling and physical comedy. The show is fun, kind of a throwback to old-time vaudeville and variety. I enjoyed the animals, especially the dogs, and appreciate the obvious affection he lavishes upon them. Some of the animal tricks were more impressive than others. The pig is adorable but walking across a little bridge isn't exactly a Ringling Brothers level of spectacle. A lot is made out of Popovich's interest in training stray cats. It's great that he makes the effort but, in truth, the cats didn't do a heck of a lot. But, knowing cats, I guess just getting them to sit still is an accomplishment. I had a few questions about the "story" within the show. It's a bit of a jumble, obviously designed just to connect unrelated sketches. Popovich has various identities, but most prominently he's a baggy-pants circus clown/tramp. At some point he gets thrown out of the circus by the ringmaster, sleeps on a park bench, but then he is also a teacher in a curly wig? Or was that part just a dream, because he ends up back on the bench. Then at the end he's admitted back to perform at the circus, I think. Not terribly clear what the chain of events was. There is also this weird moment early on where a mysterious box falls off the end of the little train. A man picks it up and looks inside and glitter (I believe) shoots out. It seems as if this box might somehow be important to the story. But the box never comes back and is never explained. Weird. As I say, lots of random stuff just seems jammed together -- a dinosaur, stilt-walking, beach balls. I didn't terribly mind the low-rent quality of some of the props and costumes -- even the animation -- it's kind of charming. But the general feeling of the show is a bit dingy and outdated. Get your puppies some bright new tutus. A lot of the clips in the sizzle reel are really old. People under 60 won't know the celebrities featured. Johnny Carson died twenty years ago. I appreciate that Popovich has done a lot of TV but showing such old clips just emphasizes the idea that we are looking at something a little outdated. All of these criticisms are meant with love. I truly appreciate the kind of entertainment Popovich represents and want to see it continue.
The seats we were given were terrible, could only see half of the stage. There was a lot of the show we were unable to see.
Very cute show about 1 hour long. Read above Popovich as he is very interesting. If you love cats & ohs you will love rhis show. Theatre could use some updating.
I went to the Comedy Pet Theater with my 3 1/2 year old daughter, the show is really great. We loved it and our daughter still tells us about it. The productions are fun and engaging. Beautiful messages of love and loyalty are conveyed throughout the show. Congratulations to the artist, his team and all his animals.
