La Casa Natal del mundialmente famoso artista Pablo Ruiz Picasso fue certificado oficialmente como Monumento Histórico Artístico en 1983. Está situado en el corazón del centro histórico de Málaga, rodeado de monumentos del rico pasado de Málaga como el Teatro Romano, el Castillo de Gibralfaro con sus impresionantes vistas de la ciudad y la Alcazaba. Este lugar tuvo una reinauguración oficial con el rey y la reina de España y es un importante centro de investigación sobre la vida de este genial artista.

En 1881 nació en el número 15 de la Plaza de la Merced Pablo Picasso, el artista más importante del siglo XX. Declarado Monumento Histórico Artístico de Interés Nacional en 1983. Actualmente la Casa Natal y Museo ocupa la totalidad del edificio. Desde 2005, también existe otra sala de exposiciones en el número 13 de esta misma plaza. Durante su existencia, el Museo Casa Natal de Picasso ha recopilado una colección de obras de arte con más de cuatro mil piezas de más de 200 artistas diferentes. Entre ellos se encuentran los cuadernos que Picasso preparó para 'Las señoritas de Aviñón', los únicos cuadernos de este tipo contenidos en una colección española, que datan de 1907. Sus salas de exposición contienen diversos objetos originales, recuerdos familiares y piezas realizadas por el artista que documentan los vínculos familiares, sociales y culturales de Pablo Picasso con Málaga. La casa natal de Pablo Ruiz Picasso también alberga una biblioteca especializada y ofrece un programa continuo de exposiciones temporales y actividades culturales.

"Visiting the Picasso Birthplace Museum was exciting: entering the house where Picasso was born allows for a better understanding of his origins and his connection to Málaga." The museum is well organized, rich in works, photographs, and personal items that tell the artist's life in an engaging way. Suggestive atmosphere, kind staff, and a perfect location in the heart of the city. Highly recommended for art and culture lovers!
Very convenient location/ Must for Picasso fans/ reasonable price/ allow about two hours. Lots of nearby places to eat
Picasso spent only the first 10 years of his life here, so the house is of little significance both for its furnishings and for his life lived. Inside there is only a sitting area and a desk, while everything else is described on fixed panels or on-screen photos. Visit not fundamental.
Not a very impressive collection of Picasso’s work and almost entirely sketches/etchings. Very bland.
Picasso's birthplace is NOT impressive. We have seen the house in 20 minutes, with the addition that we are not art lovers, so it was also not really spent on us. The museum is spacious and there are some personal items. Furthermore, it is mainly about his family and the development of Picasso as an artist. The museum itself is nicely set up and all the texts are also in English, but we didn't think it was that special.
Educational and wonderful to have that experience too. It was very interesting to learn about Picasso's history. To see a collection of Picasso's first had early drawings.
In the downtown of Malaga and near of the cathedral we had the opportunity to visited the childhood and Picasso’s parents house. This historic building was buy for the county to celebrated the centennial of Picasso’s anniversary.
DO NOT BUY THIS - YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE AND CAN BUY THE TICKETS AT THE FRONT DESK. We bought the tickets in advance so that we don‘t have to wait since the the description explicitly states „Skip the line“. We arrived there and were told by the staff that we have to wait in line like everyone else. So we had to wait in line for 45 minutes in the rain…. We were totally disappointed by the false claims made in the description.
Great tour to learn about Picasso and how he influenced others and continues to do so. Not crowded and the administrators were very helpful in pointing out the significance of the displays.
It’s nice to see the childhood home of Pablo Picasso! And the influences he had to be the great artist that he is!
