Tome la carretera rumbo a la ciudad histórica de Petrópolis, fundada tras una iniciativa del imperador Don Pedro II y conocida como la "Ciudad Imperial". Disfrute del clima agradable y descubra atracciones culturales, edificios históricos y una exuberante vegetación. Relájese durante el viaje de una hora hasta Petrópolis, saliendo de Río de Janeiro, en la comodidad de un vehículo con aire acondicionado. Admire el hermoso paisaje de montaña con una vista panorámica del Parque Nacional de la Sierra de los Órganos en el camino. Pase por el “Palacio Quitandinha”, antiguo hotel y casino de los años 1940, y admire su inmenso jardín y su bella arquitectura. Visite el Museo Imperial y aprenda más sobre la historia de Brasil y de la familia imperial por una rica colección de objetos, incluyendo la corona de D. Pedro II. Observe también el Palacio de Cristal, escenario de grandes banquetes y fiestas. Visite también la Catedral San Pedro de Alcántara, un hermoso monumento en arquitectura neogótica en donde D. Pedro II, uno de los emperadores de Brasil, está sepultado. Cruzando las avenidas de la ciudad diríjase a la Casa de Santos Dumont (visita opcional – entradas no incluidas), un museu sobre el famoso inventor brasileño, considerado uno de los pioneros de la aviación. Disfrute del tiempo libre como desee: elija entre un paseo por la Rua Teresa, famosa por la gran zona de compras, o por el tour en la Cervecería Bohemia, y explore la tradicional cerveza brasileña. El tour incluye una parada para el almuerzo (opciones con y sin comida incluida).

Antiguo e histórico hotel de lujo, considerado uno de los monumentos arquitectónicos más impresionantes de Petrópolis. Fue el mayor hotel casino de América Latina en el momento de su fundación.
Catedral construida en estilo gótico entre 1884 y 1925. También es el lugar de descanso del último emperador de Brasil, Dom Pedro II, y su familia.
El Museo Imperial es la antigua residencia de verano del emperador Pedro II (que reinó entre 1831 y 1889), construida a partir de 1845. El museo incluye piezas del pasado monárquico de Brasil.
Palacio originalmente dedicado a acoger exposiciones y eventos, inaugurado en 1884.
Pintoresca residencia construida en 1918 que albergó a Santos Dumont, inventor brasileño y pionero de la aviación.
Bohemia es la primera fábrica de cerveza de Brasil y contiene la experiencia cervecera más completa de América Latina.

If you are looking for a respite from the Rio heat, the "Imperial City" tour with C2Rio Tours & Travel is the ideal choice. Not only because of the destination, which looks like a bit of Germany in Brazil, but because of the warmth of the team. We booked the Petropolis day tour and it exceeded our expectations. From the start, the coordination with Ana Julia by WhatsApp was impeccable; we were confirmed the pick-up at our Copacabana hotel 24 hours in advance. One very positive detail: we saw that people staying in Barra de Tijuca were provided with an Uber to approach the meeting point, something that not all agencies do. Our guide, Thais, was a resounding 10. Although most spoke Portuguese, he took all the time to explain every detail in Spanish with a lot of patience and passion. Also special mention for our driver (a genius, very responsible behind the wheel). We visit: Views of Serra dos Órgãos National Park: The scenery on the climb is amazing. Quitandinha Palace (free admission): The perfect entrance to the city. Cathedral of San Pedro de Alcantara. Imperial Museum (entrance fee included with tour): The main course. The collection is very rich and includes the royal crown, the scepter and the king's cape. (Too bad the stables were closed, a reason to come back!). Crystal Palace Free time: Although Rua Teresa was closed for Sunday and we did not want to go to the craft brewery, Thais suggested excellent options. We opted for the Casa de Santos Dumont and sweetened up at the Chocolateria Katz, a total success! The combi was modern and comfortable. One detail I highlight is punctuality; the organization is so professional that they are watching every passenger on WhatsApp to make everything flow. The return was made very enjoyable thanks to the good vibe of the group and the safe driving of our driver (sorry I do not remember her name but very friendly also and responsible behind the wheel). I would definitely choose Thais and C2Rio again for an upcoming adventure.

The visit to Petropolis is a must. Not only is it a city steeped in history and wonderfully preserved, it is in a unique setting, nestled in the middle of nature and breathes incredible peace. An ideal visit to spend a different day near Rio de Janeiro. Monica, the guide, was the best thing that could have happened to us: not only does she know a lot, but she is also super clear explaining, organizing the times and was always at the group’s disposal. Lunch was very good.
There are no words to describe the outstanding experience we had thanks to Newton, the best guide ever. It was so much information about Brazilian royal history (and more) that we were afraid it could be an exam at the end of the tour!! Lol. We highly recommend this tour. It was totally stress free, it felt like visiting with a local family member. We loved it We are looking to go back in the near future and, of course, count on this guided ser ices.
