Río Peñas Blancas : Experiencia de Safari de Vida Silvestre en Balsa

What a great morning! Our experience with Calypso adventures was perfect from pick up to drop off. We saw an array of animals (including a GIANT crocodile), Beth was so patient with our kids (4 and 6), and was full of information about the flora, fauna, and town. At the end, the 6 year old asked if we could do it again tomorrow, and I can’t think of a better endorsement.

Great river trip and we saw so many animals. Perfect for an 8 yr old boy. We loved our guide but I do not remember his name.

BOOK THIS NOW! Beth is absolutely incredible - warm, knowledgeable, and deeply connected to the wildlife and nature around her. We saw everything we hoped for and more: howler monkeys, white‑faced monkeys, stunning birds of every kind, iguanas, basilisks… the list goes on. After the tour, Beth welcomed us with fresh juice, cold beer, and delicious fruit, which was the perfect way to wrap up the experience. We did a lot during our time in Costa Rica, but this was easily the highlight. Being on the river with just our family and Beth made it feel personal, peaceful, and truly special. Such a beautiful experience. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

I had an excellent experience with Calypso Adventures. The tour was quiet and very pleasant, ideal for enjoying nature. We were lucky enough to see several wild animals in their habitat, which was really special. The guides were very professional, Betshiva is very attentive and knowledgeable about the environment, as is the entire team. You can tell they know what they're doing and they're well organized. I recommend carrying sunscreen, as much of the tour is in the pure sun. Undoubtedly, an experience that I would recommend to any lover of nature and tranquility. Pura Vida 🤘

Amazing experience by Calypso Tours- owned and operated by a woman, Bethshive, who went above and beyond to make our experience special and memorable. you were able to see a lot of animals on the river, including a sloth!! We had a great time and highly recommend other families to take this tour!

This jungle safari was so prefect adventure for our family. It was beautiful and enjoyable to take in some of Costa Rica and see some wildlife. We were lucky to see monkeys, sloths, coatis, herons, snakes birds, iguanas and more. The trees and fauna were spectacular. Our guide Bethshiva from Calypso really made this tour stand out, sharing her knowledge of Costa Rican wildlife, enivronment and culture. I would highly recommend Calypso!

Beth and Mario picked us up at our resort and described the CR culture as we drive to the river. They were very patient with our questions, thorough with instructions to begin our float tour. On the river we saw lots of monkeys, a variety of beautiful birds, giant wasp and termite nests, iguanas, an alligator, sloth, sea otters, and a rare animal that looks like part dog/part cat. We had delicious fresh fruit at the end and a cold cerveza. It was a very memorable float trip!

Wow! This was one of the best tours we’ve ever had in Costa Rica! My fiancè and I got a private tour with Bethshiva and it was amazing! Beth is so knowledgeable, friendly, funny and charismatic. We felt super safe in her company and with her instructions. She provided us with beer, fruit & juice at the end! We saw lots of beautiful birds, a sloth, howler monkeys, a caiman & gorgeous trees/flowers. It was very relaxing and so fun!! 10/10 recommend.

This Wildlife experience was amazing and a great way to start our trip. Our host Bethshiva has such a great personality which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Beautiful views and wildlife, and end with fresh fruit and drink. Highly recommend!

This was a great trip! We saw turtles, a crocodile, monkeys, King Fishers, anhingas and more. Beth runs a safe but exiting tour, and best of all, fun.
