Our guide Jomon was in constant contact with us. The original booking date had to be moved due to heavy rain. Jomon is a very good spotter and knows the area well. As part of the trail there is a short walk through a stream. Shoes need to be taken off for this. Leeches are a problem so shorts not recommended. Even with trousers I got bitten by a leech but the risk is less. Jomon is patient and gave us information about birds and some trees. The water bird section of the tour was also interesting. We saw many species of birds and several giant Malabar squirrel. If you are a birder you will be spoilt for choice. Highly recommended. Thank you Jomon for today.
I had an excellent experience birding in Thattekad with Thattekad Birding Tours. He helped me with transportation from and to the airport, local travel, and finding a place to stay. Very reasonable and customizable. I was interested in seeing many endemic species, and he modified the tour based on my interest. The guide knew the area very well and took me to multiple habitats. In addition, he pointed out the other flora and fauna endemic to that region, along with the birds. Very friendly and made and effort to make the visit as comfomrtable as possible. Some of the areas in Thattekad, besides the sanctuary, need a guide to get in. I would highly recommend Thattekad Birding Tours.
Beautiful guided tour with lots of bird species.visit in the morning before it gets hot.service of an experienced bird guide is necessary if you want to recognise different species.
We really enjoyed staying at the Bird Lagoon where we were taken on a birdwatching trip into the sanctuary. We saw lots of unusual birds which we would have missed without an expert guide.
