We accidentally showed up for our ride a day early. They were understanding and let us ride anyway. It was in the middle of the day, right during a 104° F heatwave, and they provided a shaded seating area, and shade umbrellas on the boat. The guide was knowledgeable and funny and easy to understand. One of the best and most interesting experiences of our whole trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Alan (?) was brilliant, he adapted to the different nationalities on the boat well, the history taught was interesting and he made it entertaining and memorable. Such a beautiful area, and seeing the buildings of Ghent form another angle was wonderful. We would recommend:
The guide was very average - basically he went through the motions. No interactions with people on the boat and did not appreciate questions along the way.
We really enjoyed our time on the river. The guide was super friendly, he spoke English well and was very knowledgeable about his city. He was also a very safe boat driver, we really had no complaints and would recommend this tour to anyone travelling to Ghent
My family and I really enjoyed the River Boat tour in Ghent. The guide was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The meeting spot was very convenient.
Took this trip with Rederij Dewaele. It was a hot day, and they were handing out big golf umbrellas for sunshades. Unfortunately, these completely obscured the vie for anyone unfortunate enough to be seated in the idle row of seats. Plus the woman behind me was unable to control her umbrella and kept hitting me on the back of the head with the prongs. The slight view that might have been available on one side was obscured by children who insisted on standing up throughout the trip.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear the tour did not meet your expectations. On warm and sunny days, we do provide parasols for our guests’ comfort, although we understand that this can sometimes partially block the view when the boat is full. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you again for taking the time to write this review. We keep trying to improve our services. I wish you a wonderful day.
Great boat ride through Ghent. Easy to walk up and get on without choosing a time slot before the day.
Very nice walk. Beautiful city. It's a shame that since there are several buildings under maintenance, sometimes you couldn't get good photos.
The tour was informative and the captain spoke 3 languages. It’s a great view of the castle and other beautiful parts of the city.
The canals in Gent are not as charming as in Brugge, but still it's a nice way to see the city. The tour takes 40 minutes, you have a chance to see e.g. the Gravensteen from a different perspective. The tour was given in 3 languages, including English, although at times we found it a bit difficult to understand it. Be prepared with a rain coat or an umbrella, as the weather can change really quickly.
