Dashaswamedh Ghat: - Dashashwamedh ghat es uno de los ghat más antiguos, espectaculares e importantes, ubicado en la orilla del río Gange, cerca del antiguo templo de Vishwanath en Kashi. El significado literal de Dashashwamedh es el Ghat (frente al río) de los diez caballos sacrificados (dash significa 10, ashwa significa caballo, medh significa sacrificio). Hay dos mitologías sobre el ghat: que el Señor Brahma fue creado en el Dashashwamedh ghat para dar la bienvenida al Señor Shiva, y la segunda es que el Señor Brahma fue sacrificado con los diez caballos en un yajna aquí. Este ghat es famoso por el Agni Pooja que se celebra aquí todos los días por la noche por un grupo de sacerdotes dedicados al Señor Shiva, al río Ganges, a Surya, a Agni y al universo entero.
Construido bajo la dirección del Peshwa Amritrao de Pune en 1807, RajaGhat fue descrito como Amritrao Ghat por James Prinsep en 1831 y Grimes en 1909. Distribuido en un área enorme, el sur de Ghat tiene Annapurna Math y la parte norte tiene una fortaleza.
Harish Chandra ghat es uno de los dos ghats de cremación y también se conoce como Adi Manikarnika, que significa el lugar de la creación original. Es mucho más pequeño que Manikarnika y es un ghat más importante para la cremación. Fue nombrado Manikarnika debido a la caída de la gema de la oreja de Parvati. Actualmente, este ghat de Kashi es famoso tanto por su lugar de peregrinación como por su lugar de cremación. An unforgettable sunrise experience on the Ganges in Varanasi. Seeing the city awaken from the water as the first light touched the ghats was absolutely beautiful and gave a unique perspective of this ancient and spiritual place. Beautiful morning boat ride with the sun rising. Our tour guide, Akash, explained much of the Indian culture and was kind enough to get off the boat to explain the crematorium ghats to us in great detail. Great tour!
