The rooms are old, dated and small with worn out furniture. The bathroom was small, so the sink was in the bathroom. Our room had two connecting doors. One had a large gap into the next room. When we arrived there was no staff to help us get our luggage from the car to the lobby.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear the Prince of Wales Hotel did not meet your expectations. As a historic property, it offers a unique heritage experience, but we understand that aspects of the rooms and facilities may not suit every guest. We also apologize for the inconvenience regarding luggage assistance upon arrival. Your comments are appreciated and will be shared with the hotel management for their consideration.
Despite booking, paying and receiving confirmation of my trip, the host did not arrive at the pick up point. As a visitor to Calgary I had set aside one of the few precious days I had available for this trip, had a friend drive an hour each way to drop me at the obscure starting point on the edge of the city at 7am. When we eventually tracked down the provider, they apologized due to family circumstances and offered a refund. I felt that was an insult and fails to recognize their responsibility as a business to deliver, or the cost and inconvenience to me. If I cancelled late it would have cost the entire trip cost (over $200), but if they don't show it costs them nothing other than refunding for the service they didn't provide. I suspect this is a small operator with no contingency should something go wrong and I don't feel this is acceptable.

It was an amazing first trip for everyone. Learning the history if the place. Thinking of planning another trip in 2026.
Hello Merlinda, Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad to hear everyone had an amazing first trip and enjoyed learning about the area's history. We'd be thrilled to help you plan your next adventure in 2026! Kind regards, The Westar Travel Team
Both tours done with Westar where great. Bryce that was with us to the lake, was one of the best guides we have had. For the tour in Waterton I do not remember his name, was very good .
It started out with me looking for Viator and not recognizing Westar as the van service. Actually, I did it was not fully clear to me how this was going to work with the pick but we figured it out so I was able to get on the tour. I was unaware of the 3 hr drive to the site and another 3hr back. That is a total of 6hrs in the van! It would have been nice to have that detail. Also, it was rainy and cold. I have done tours before where the vehicle is equipped with blankets and other sundries in case of inclement weather that was not on the forecast. It was also not clear whether or not I was paid up for the "Afternoon Tea," which, if we didn't pursue the process more, I would've paid twice. Alston, our driver, had a roster showing I was paid but I did not, and it was unclear how that was going to be managed. Overall, for such a long day the driver and passengers were pleasant though I would not recommend this so-called tour to anyone. I didn't learn anything about the region's geology or geography.
Hi Susan, Thank you for your feedback. For the transportation time, we did mention in the product link with tour time and sightseeing time for each attraction. However, we will take your advice for our consideration to improve our service. Please understand we cannot control weather conditions; we do suggest our customers bring jackets in case there is an unexpected situation. Per your add-on afternoon tea, we did receive your payment on March 15 and sent an email to inform you that we have well received your payment with an updated tour confirmation. Thank you for sharing your feedback to our attention for our service improvement. Please feel free to let us know if you still have any concerns and rest assured that we are more than glad to assist you.
