It was a different experience but it was fun. It's about a 1 or 2 mile walk depending on if you walk further to eat. We did it as a group of three. Crowd size kinda depends. It could be a 2-3 hour experience depending on if you have done anything like this. It is recommended probably earlier in the day.
We really enjoyed this activity and will be checking in future places we travel for more! We chose the more advanced level since there were 4 of us and 2 had done escape rooms before. I would recommend if you've never done one to do the beginner unless you are very good at puzzles
Great experience! Wish there were more for nashville!
Each step was a unique challenge that was tricker than expected (in a good way)! There were fun twists and the clues were helpful without giving it away. We had a great time!
Was looking for something different to do instead of the typical tours to see the city. I decided to try the outdoor escape room in Nashville. It was the best decision I made on the trip. Me and my wife had a lot fun trying to solve the mystery while sightseeing the city. It is a challenge but as you answer the questions and advance in the game it gets more and more rewarding. We really enjoyed the adventure. The cost is very fair and you can play at your own pace. The more people involved the better as there are so many hidden gems that one or two people may have difficulty locating. It took us several hours which we didn't even realize because we were so into the game. Now when I travel I'm looking to see if Escapely is available on my next destination.
I am not new to Nashville, but this was such a fun way to spend a day in downtown and get to interact in places I walk by but don't normally stop and observe. The difficulty level was on par. It wasn't impossible, but it also was enough to make you think. I appreciated the variety of different puzzles/trivia/searching there was, and the hints along the way when needed were nice aids. I am not sure how you would go wrong! My only advice would be to try to do it when it is not overly crowded, not that it is impossible with a crowd but definitely more enjoyable without one.
I'm glad we went. It was a fun way to see our city rather inexpensively. The $75 for the game is a fair price for the experience. That said, I wish we would have known some things going in that would have made the experience much more enjoyable. 1. It is DEFINITELY an outside / walking experience of the downtown sights. Take weather / walking / parking / food into account when you go. We weren't sure of this going in. Because they want to keep it flexible, the instructions tell you that you can start from the Frothy Monkey or anywhere else, and that it's open for the day, but a 2-3 hour experience. This is technically true, but we found out this assumes you will park your vehicle - an impossibility in Nashville without paying about $35-$40 extra for a couple of hours - and that the weather cooperates. Because we tried to do it by driving, we also punctured a hole in our tire in one of the many construction zones. (Timeout everyone!) We found a parking garage near the Frothy Monkey and were told we could drop in for free just long enough to go pick up our game (there is no street parking.) Less than 15 minutes later, we were paying $12 for parking. Because we chose to drive, and there are no good nearby parking options, we had to drive out of downtown to find a free parking area after every clue, then drive BACK into downtown when we found the next place the clue took us. A LOT of extra driving back and forth and circling around city blocks rather than experiencing downtown as the game intended. 2. DEFINITELY take your own notepad. The kit includes a pen but nothing to write on. You will be spending time on puzzles that require writing out options and working through them. You will also need to find a good place to stop and do this - something that downtown Nashville, as cool as it is, doesn't offer a lot of for free, depending on where you are. You will be tempted to go sit in a lot of shops or restaurants for "think breaks" where you have no intention of spending money. Not sure how they'll take this. 3. Smaller kids will get frustrated while the adults / older kids take the time to solve difficult riddles. There is one particular step where you will DEFINITELY need all the hints for sure, because it takes steps of logic and working through a puzzle in a way where logic doesn't necessarily follow. We don't like it when that happens. It should be challenging, but not impossible without a hint. You'll need to find a place to sit and relax for this one. You'll be on it for a while without all the hints. All that said, we love scavenger hunts and puzzles, and this one is fun and makes you think. It's also a thoughtful mix of a murder mystery and seeing the cool sights of downtown. Just make preparations for a day of walking and hopefully the sights will keep the smaller kids entertained. Our kids (10 and 17) were ready to leave by the time we got it solved. We would do it again, just with a different approach.
While we were not able to finish the game in the amount of time that we had downtown, we do plan to make another trip to finish it soon. We did all of the initial clues while taking the bus from our home about 30 minutes from downtown, and that was a great use of that time. We liked the styles of all of those mini puzzles. It was nice to have several different formats of riddles to solve. We enjoyed the first couple sets of clues, however, they did get a bit too challenging for us after that, and we had to use many of the hints. We played with myself, my wife, and our 2 boys (14 & 9), and they really enjoyed the first set of on-site clues (True or False) and looking for the buildings that were featured on the polaroids on the website, which was the last set that we completed. As an aside, we have lived in Nashville for 21 years, but rarely go downtown. This was a great motivator to do so! Thank you for creating this unique spin on escape games, and we're looking forward to picking it up again soon.
It was a little difficult at the beginning but we figured out and had lots of fun with it. We could not finish the game, as it was a first time to play this game, and we needed to go somewhere else.
Took us some brain stretching to get through this. Without the clues never would have gotten done. I would like more of the clues like we did at the first street location.
