This is a must for history buffs or those that want to know more! What Helena delivers is the most comprehensive and compelling history of Singapore.
Highly recommended by two Australians who were keen to learn more about the history of Singapore and particularly the Japanese invasion in 1942. Our guide was Helena and she was excellent - knew her stuff and more, changed up the itinerary to suit our interests around the Fort Canning site. Helena is a wonderful ambassador for OSW and her City. Get on one of her tours if you can.
The tour fills in so many gaps that history never even thought of covering in school. Joanne’s enthusiasm was delightful and she answered all our questions. Stops for water were regular and we were consistently reminded.
Great tour - Helena was an excellent guide - very engaging and just the right level of detail. My friend and I were under some time pressure so Helena adjusted the tour to meet our requirements.
Not too much walking nice steady pace some steps but very manageable. Good overview of the whole history of Singapore
The information provided on this tour was amazing. Helena was full of knowledge and fun facts throughout the tour. Fort Canning is a great place to visit and the gardens are just beautiful but I highly recommend doing it as a part of this tour as without the wonderful story telling provided by Helena it wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable. She really made such an information heavy tour a lot of fun.
Helena is a very friendly, knowledgeable, passionate and considerate tour guide. It was very interesting and informative to hear about the history of Singapore from its pre-colonial era up to and including WWII. I would definitely recommend Helena and the tour. Note this tour does not get into the Battlebox and use insect repellent and wear suitable clothing to protect against mosquitoes as you walk around a lot of grassy areas.
Helena was our guide and she was very informative and friendly. The tour covered a lot of historical information and we all enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend.

It is fantastic, probably because our Guide Helena was so passionate about History and included all five people into the stories. There were 3 Aussie, another couple were British & and American gent. It was hot & humid so she stopped in shade as much as possible & found seating so we could relax & listen. She covered so much of the 13 centuries of Singapore history. We knew so little apart from the Aussie involvement. She was also thoughtful for the fact my wife had low sight. She was passionate about Singapore & her role in telling others We loved it , and Her. She found out it was my wife's birthday & our wedding anniversary & we even got a hug!! Dou your self & favour & do the tour & hope you get Helena. Col & Gael
