Hay mucho que ver de Qatar más allá de la ciudad. Saldrás de Doha para ver la historia de Qatar en sus áreas del norte, comenzando con una visita al puerto de Al-Khor, un antiguo centro rico para las industrias locales de pesca y perlas. Sigue siendo un puerto ocupado lleno de pescadores trabajando duro. La próxima parada es en Al Thakira, y esta hermosa extensión de vegetación natural, llena de manglares y gloriosas vías fluviales. Al Khor es una ciudad costera en el norte de Qatar, ubicada a 50 kilómetros al norte de la capital, Doha. Considerada una de las ciudades más grandes de Qatar. Al Khor es el hogar de muchos empleados de la industria petrolera debido a su proximidad a los campos de petróleo y gas natural del norte de Qatar y a la ciudad industrial de Ras Laffan. Es una de las sedes propuestas para el Mundial de Qatar 2022.
La Isla Púrpura, también conocida como Isla Al Khor, es un hermoso lugar en Al Khor, aproximadamente a una hora en automóvil desde Doha. Es una isla pequeña, conectada al continente por un camino angosto que se rompe en diferentes puntos para permitir que el agua fluya hacia el manglar.
Al zubara, también conocida como Fort Zubara(h), es una fortaleza militar histórica de Qatar construida bajo la supervisión del jeque Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani en 1938.
Al Jumail, un pueblo pesquero y de perlas abandonado al noreste de Qatar, que fue fundado en el siglo XIX y estuvo habitado hasta bien entrado el siglo XX, antes del auge económico que trajo consigo la industria del petróleo y el gas. El nombre del pueblo proviene de la palabra árabe "jameel", que significa "hermoso"; una referencia a los árboles que crecen en la zona durante todo el año. Según Wikipedia, en la década de 1820, a George Barnes Brucks se le encomendó la preparación del primer estudio británico del Golfo Pérsico y documentó a Al Jumail en este estudio, refiriéndose a él como "Yamale".

Maybe not the right season for this trip, but if you don't have a choice.... Simply not much to see, unfortunately.
A great tour to learn about the early history about Qatar and to see the northern part of the country in half a day
The tour was amazing. Al Khor, Purple Island, Zubara Fort and the Al Jumail abandoned village are beautiful places. Anees was an amazing tour guide. 5 stars.
Our group (4 people) was picked up from the hotel in the Landcruiser. We had a very young guide who drove us from one point to another. There were no explanations for the individual stages, so he was more rider than tour guide. Also the specified time per stop is not correct, that always includes the arrival. So from 45 min Al Khor stayed 5 minutes, in the fish market, one round, out and on. The Purple Island can be reached with a brisk sprint over the jetty in the planned 15 minutes stop, there, back, further. Fortunately, the Zubara Fort is equipped with many notice boards, so you can make yourself known. The tea or coffee mentioned in the itinerary was cancelled due to Ramadan. Overall, the tour is already very interesting, the contrast between Doha and the hinterland could not be greater.

Very awesome experience. Our host was very friendly and informative. He took us to the mangroves, Purple Island, an abandoned village, a fort and even went off road to show us these sculptures in the middle of the dessert. Very nice of him. Excellent experience.
Guide was very attentive, the tour eh long but he was super helpful in every detail. At the stops we had enough time to take care of everything.
My tour guide Saad is really knowledgeable and interesting. He made the tour enjoyable and engaging. I really enjoyed the tour and had fun seeing the north of Qatar.

We were never picked up, the driver's car had broken down. We were told he would be there 2 hours later, when we asked where he was, he wrote that he was on his way. After another 35 minutes of not hearing from him, we cancelled the trip, he never returned. Really bad service. Now we are anxiously waiting to see if Viator will refund our money.
