Museo Multisensorial de la Casa de Frankenstein de Mary Shelley en Bath

Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein -WOW! - what an amazing place this is! We had walked by the museum quite a few times over the years, but had never actually visited - what a huge mistake that was! This time we decided to give it a go, and I have to say, we've visited most of the tourist attractions in Bath, from ancient to the new, but the House of Frankenstein is easily the best of ALL Bath attractions! It's got everything, historical interest and factual content, and yes, it IS really interesting, you are quickly captivated by all the exhibits, the unfolding story as you travel through the room, ohh, there is so much to see. So often in museums, things here and there catch your eye, but a lot of skipped past, as you decide which things interest your personal choice....in the House of Frankenstein EVERYTHING is interesting, and it's all presented in so many different ways, from reading all the exciting info, to listening to the sound effects, and multiple interactive feature, fantastic visuals, it's all brilliant! The atmosphere is really good too, you find yourself getting absorbed into the spirit of it, you'll find yourself being shocked (literally -wait and see!), you'll find yourself laughing out loud, and you utter a few screams too! Some of the rooms have wonderful surprises, so I won't be a spoiler, you need to visit yourself! The ticket prices are really good value too, you won't feel ripped off in any way at all....when we left, we were left with that happy buzz you get when you know you've had a really good time. We're going back soon, the next time we're in Bath, it's a must-do experience!

We enjoyed the experience, my nine year old daughter frightened, led the way eas quite interestwd and joined in using the props in the rooms, for clever photo opportunities. The experience led us around 5 or 6 floors of well thought out rooms. Each had its own "feel". The first rooms introduced us to Mary Shelley and her life and as you move through the house the scenes progressively get more macarbe and gothic. We took a few photos and short videos and had lots of fun. The attack where frankenstein's monster is was the peak of the experience. My daughter didnt brave a vistit to the basement. And honestly myself and my sister walked down the stairs and got about a metre in before I screamed in her ear and we abandoned the idea. Im disappointed with myself but I want to return with the rest of the family to complete the basement and maybe try an escape room. Well worth the visit and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Absolutely recommend a visit. We went round quickly and skimmed and skipped most of the reading as the little one led the way and nan was waiting around the corner in a coffee shop. You could take 2 hours and actually enjoy read everything it was eye opening and I had to watch the Robert de Niro film the next day. Summary.. we read some really interesting stories, we enjoyed, we laughed, we clung ro each other in parts. We took some brilliant photos to keep for memories, we got spooked and scared and had a great time.

Whilst visiting Bath for a long weekend with friends we headed over to Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein. Just down from the Royal Crescent and the Circus and virtually next door to the Jane Austin Experience, it is ideally centred in Bath. Not knowing what to expect really, we were pleasantly surprised with the in depth information relating to the Shelly family, Mary Shell herself and her literary journey in writing and publishing Frankenstein, as well as being entwined with Lord Byron and It does a really good job of telling Mary Shelley’s story. Atmospheric and set over numerous floors, some macabre, some less so but including film clips from various films and other memorabilia centred around the Frankenstein myth. The staff were great, but I do have to apologise for laughing at the young lady/Igor in the haunted basement - you did scare my friend though. Oh yeh, go in the haunted basement !

The Museum provides an immersive and complete vision of Mary Shelley life, including insights regarding society of the times and how Frankestein was created. Staff is super-friendly and all rooms (including shop) are filled with accurate and fancy details and decorations. We booked also "The shallows" escape experience: very well done, definitely worth the price. A must do when in Bath!

Amazing escape room and very interesting museum. Would definately recommend!

The theatrical tour part was informative and fun, but not theatrical except for a very brief appearance by Shelley, I think. The house itself, though, was, according to my husband, "The most disappointing tourist trap in Bath." He went through it in about ten minutes. It would be okay if the admission price weren't so high relative to what you get. We didn't do the escape rooms or the haunted basement part, though.

Great experience in the centre of Bath, well worth the money! Spent around 45 / 60 minutes in here exploring the 5 levels this museum has to offer, both very informative and detailed rooms, with some frights along the way! Basement was very fun to wrap up with, lots of attention to detail and felt very immersed in the life of Mary Shelley and the creation of Frankenstein from start to finish!

We had a great time. The museum is fab, the basement made our girls scream and the adults laugh (and scream) and was so much fun, thanks to the scary member of staff. The staff were amazing (all of them), we played the suitcase game, which was difficult but do-able in the end. The museum is worth a visit alone, with its displays, pinball & everything! Great value, go visit!
