Itinerario

The excursion turned out to be quite a bit more limited than we expected. The trip to the Rila Monastery was practically like a shared taxi: the person accompanying us acted primarily as a driver, not a guide. They dropped us off at the entrance to the monastery and we only had one hour to visit it and eat, an insufficient amount of time to enjoy a place like this in peace. Access to an online guide is provided, but under those conditions there is hardly any time to use it. Afterwards we moved on to the Sapareva Banya thermal baths, where we had two hours. In our opinion, it would have been much more interesting to have more time there and return to Sofia later, instead of ending the excursion around 6:30 PM, while there were still many hours of sunlight left. On the other hand, there was an especially concerning aspect: during the trip, the driver used his mobile phone on numerous occasions while driving. I do not want to get into personal matters or mention his name, but I consider it dangerous behavior that the company should monitor and prevent, especially when transporting passengers. In short, the excursion can serve as transportation to visit Rila and the thermal baths, but it is worth knowing that it is more of a transfer service with very tight timing than a guided excursion in the proper sense.

Interesting and very well-organized experience, the monastery is very beautiful and the thermal baths are truly galactic!!!!!
Wonderful guides!!! Careful driver. Super friendly!!! All within schedule. The only thing that the restaurant didn't offer any food options
We had a very nice day trip out of Sofia. The place is definitely worth visiting and should be on your must-see list. We had a few issues at the start of the trip. Finding our guide was a bit challenging because the pick-up point was very busy, with lots of coaches, making it difficult to know which one was ours. Our guide was amazing. She was very informative, friendly, and took great care of all of us throughout the day, even when our transportation broke down just 1 km before our destination. The destination itself is absolutely worth seeing. The spa with its natural hot mineral pools was a nice and relaxing way to spend the afternoon after the morning tour. Overall, despite the minor issues at the beginning, we had a great experience and would recommend this trip.
Company was very good with their communication prior to the tour started. For someone who came over 6k miles to Bulgaria, this is important. Ivan was a great tour guide. The Monastery was beautiful and it was such a scenic drive while Ivan gave us some background information about Bulgaria. Thermal pools were my favorite. They were perfect and very relaxing. There were no crowds so I could easily enjoy with relaxation. The amount of time we spent there was perfect (3 hours). We made it back to Sofia at about 5:50pm which also allowed me to attend the 6pm free walking tour.
The tour is really good, Rila Monastery is incredible and worth checking. The Spa trip is also great. The tour guide Georgi Ivanov was great too, he taught a lot about the history of Rila. I highly recommend the visit.
Very good, they should have more flexibility with Spanish, as there are many Spanish-speaking people traveling around the world. Large does not dominate English.
Viewing the monastery is worthwhile BUT on this tour we were all crammed on to an old and dirty mini bus which had graffiti on the back of at least one headrest. My seat was broken and the general condition was very poor. The monastery is impressive and there are options to get food and drinks . The Thermae is just a series of swimming pools - nice on a hot day
Stefan was the perfect guide. He had a wealth of knowledge about the the path to Rila Monastery and Thermae Spa. And pointing out the stork nests. The tour company were amazingly efficient providing excellent information. The meeting point was very clear. Stefan provided a description of Rila Monastery and then let us explore with several times pointing out amazing things that I would have missed. The audio guide was excellent. The Thermae Spa was wonderful. And clean. There a cool, warm and very warm pools. Fortunately with both the Monastery and the Spa it was not crowded. A perfect day.
It was a beautiful blend of culture and relaxation. The Rila Mountains and the monastery are magnificent and unique. The thermal baths punctuate this day with relaxation and a view of the mountains—top notch!
