Sorprendentemente surrealistas y serenamente espirituales, los monasterios de Metéora surgen de un paisaje de ensueño de megalitos rocosos en las llanuras del Valle de Tesalia. Los primeros ermitaños llegaron a este rincón lejano de Grecia al menos ya en el siglo XI para retirarse del mundo y contemplar la divinidad. Los monjes cristianos ortodoxos comenzaron a construir monasterios aquí en el siglo XIV. Originalmente, 24 monasterios se encontraban en esta asombrosa ubicación, construidos en los bordes de acantilados vertiginosos o encaramados sobre formaciones de arenisca escarpadas de hasta 300 metros. Lugares y horarios de recogida
-Recogemos de todos los alojamientos en Atenas. Para el área de recogida / entrega en el aeropuerto hay un cargo adicional, póngase en contacto con nosotros. -El atuendo recomendado para las mujeres es falda larga o vestido largo. Si no tienes, te darán allí una bufanda para que te la pongas en la cintura, (3€ de cargo ) o si tienes una puedes hacer lo mismo. Para los hombres es recomendable usar pantalones largos. También los monasterios no aceptan tarjetas, así que por favor tenga dinero en efectivo con usted. Son 5€ por persona y monasterio.

We had such a wonderful time, the pick up and drive were fast and comfortable. The Monasteries themselves have been the highlight of the trip. Having our driver able to drop us off and pick us up at the entrances when we were ready made the private trip totally worth it in the heat. Loved it!

We booked three consecutive days of private tour with Crispy Local and this is the last day. Like the previous trip, enjoyed also this trip with Dimitris as our driver. 🙂As expected from previous experience, he is so knowledgeable and shares gladly with us information about the areas we pass by. We also covered different topics of Greek life. So interesting! The benefit of taking private tour is one can really take good time to walk around as one visit different places. In addition, there are so many unique places (with narrow, downhill, uphill roads) that we visited that we would not otherwise visit with a big, guided tour. One of the most memorable parts of the trip for me was seeing ancient copies of Codex from the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in Meteora. As previously commented in my other reviews, for all three days that we did the tour with Crispy Local, both drivers (Harry and Dimitris) are welcoming, informative and the whole tours were handled professionally. I highly recommend Crispy Local. 🙂

Wonderful full day. Amazing knowledgeable and very helpful Nathan was my guide and excellent driver. Fantastic scenery and great inside local knowledge re monastery sites. Highly recommend spending the money and saving time with this service. There are many large coach trips with lots of people This is the perfect experience witnessing Meteora.

Our entire family had such an amazing experience! All 6 adults and 2 kids absolutely loved the history lesson George gave us on the drive - making the long drive actually enjoyable. He explained the history of meteora and everything we saw along the way, even stopping in some scenic spots along the way! Absolutely recommend!!!!!

The driver and car were great. It was a nice relaxed trip- much better than being on a bus! Suggestion for lunch was great. Meteora was beautiful and glad we visited!

Great trip! Meteora was fantastic to see and Mr George was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with and provided an enjoyable means of getting there and experiencing it. Pickup instructions were sent early and were clear and Mr George was there early w breakfast snacks and water. Highly recommend!
