• Comenzamos nuestro recorrido explorando Memphis, la primera capital de Egipto unificado establecida por el rey Menes en el siglo 31 a. C. Hoy en día, la ciudad alberga un museo al aire libre con exhibiciones pertenecientes al Nuevo Reino, que incluye la Esfinge de Alabastro y los Colosos de Ramsés II como puntos destacados.
• Nuestra segunda parada del día es en Saqqara, la necrópolis de la familia real durante el largo período de la era del Reino Antiguo. Uno de los sitios arqueológicos más ricos de Egipto, las atracciones incluyen pirámides y tumbas centradas alrededor de la famosa pirámide escalonada de Djoser.
• En nuestra última visita del día, exploramos las pirámides de Dahshur donde el rey Senfru, el padre de King Cheops, el constructor de las Grandes Pirámides de Giza, realizó el primer intento exitoso de reconstruir una pirámide apropiada en el antiguo Egipto. We booked a tour to Memphis Dashur and Saqqara with Travel 2 Egypt. They also provided a pick up and drop off form the airport to our hotel in Cairo and in Luxor. The booking process was straight forward. WhatsApp is the best means of contact, we got a clear written quote and all the arrangements worked as planned, it was very reassuring arriving at Cairo to find a sign with our names on. The drivers and guide were friendly and helpful. Dashur, Saqqara and Memphis are, in their own way, as impressive as the great pyramids at Giza but were much quieter without the crowds and hassle. If you want to go inside a pyramid then go to Dashur and go into the red pyramid and avoid the hideous scrum at Giza. The chambers inside which are more than 4000 years old are definitely worth the slightly tight climb down. The guide was knowledgeable and helpful, it was a great bonus to have a small private tour rather than a large group. Lunch was provided which was an Egyptian mixed grill, with a bonus lesson in fresh bread making Egyptian style. The day tour included all the entry fees. As Travel2 Egypt had been so helpful, I asked at the last minute to arrange a stopover trip from Cairo airport to the Cairo museum on our return journey, this was also arranged with no fuss and made our long travel day home much better. If you are visiting Egypt without a full tour package I would recommend Travel2 Egypt to arrange transfers, local tours etc. Payment will be in cash on arrival in your currency (Pounds Dollars Euro). This might sounds unusual to us but was no problem whatever. As far as I can work out tour operators/ hotels etc are supposed to charge foreigners in foreign currency, presumably to get money into Egypt so having at least cash in a major currency is a good idea in Egypt.
Traveling to the least visited places like Dahshure satisfies the traveler inside me. It feels like having the whole place for yourself away from busy cities. The food at (Sakkara) was excellent .. Our guide is one of a kind and the kind driver Emad with his smiley face was awesome. C U Soon
