El Castillo de Matsumoto es uno de los cinco castillos designados como "Tesoros Nacionales de Japón" y el castillo más antiguo que queda en Japón. La construcción comenzó en 1592 de la elegante estructura en blanco y negro con sus tres torretas. Debido a las elegantes paredes negras, el Castillo de Matsumoto a veces se llama "Castillo del Cuervo". Tom was an excellent guide. He was super knowledgeable, fun and has been living in the area for a long time so he knew so much about Matsumoto. It was nearing the end of the busy season and I had a semi-private tour with Colin, who is a wealth of knowledge. You can tell he has a great passion for Japanese history and the region. I found the castle's history to be fascinating, and while the walk through castle itself has rather steep ascension and is not 'easy' to navigate, Colin ensured we were well taken care of. The walk around Matsumoto city was wonderful (my tour-mate had only joined for the castle), so I was able to personalize the tour with Colin which I appreciated. Matsumoto is absolutely worth seeing, and I highly recommend this tour to get your bearings and understand its history!
