Este día de las dunas marinas será el punto culminante de su gira por Namibia. El crucero Catamarán Delfines y Focas es muy popular añadido con el Sandwich puerto Dune drive, es lo mejor que Namibia tiene para ofrecer. Itinerario
El crucero en catamarán sale a las 08:30 h desde el muelle y regresa alrededor de las 12:00 h. De camino al puerto, veremos pelícanos, focas y, a menudo, delfines. En un buen día, podremos avistar peces luna (Mola Mola) e incluso ballenas (en la temporada de caza de ballenas). A veces, los pelícanos vuelan muy cerca y nos detenemos en la colonia de focas para ver la colonia de 50.000 focas desde el mar. Se sirven aperitivos en el catamarán. Regresamos al muelle, donde nos espera nuestro guía de Sandwichharbourtours.com, que nos lleva al puerto de Sandwich. El tiempo para embarcar y desembarcar del catamarán no está incluido en el tiempo (esto lleva unos 20 minutos)
Desde el paseo marítimo, nos dirigimos a la explanada y nos detenemos en Pink Flamingos. Desinflamos los neumáticos y pasamos por los lagos Pink Salt en nuestro camino a lo largo de la costa hacia las imponentes dunas de Sandwich Harbor. Pasamos por dunas azotadas por el viento y una gran variedad de aves marinas. Es posible que veamos focas y chacales.
Pasamos por la laguna de Walvis Bay, los lagos de sal rosa de la mina de sal y llegamos a la costa, a lo largo de la playa hacia el sur durante 60 km. Nos encontramos con muchas especies de aves, migratorias y otras, flamencos, pelícanos, avocetas, charranes y muchas más, a lo largo del camino. Entramos en el parque Namib Naukluft y en las imponentes dunas de Sandwich Harbor. Conducimos a lo largo de 'Lange Wand', donde el mar se encuentra con las dunas, solo una estrecha franja de playa para viajar, por lo que la marea es muy importante. Overall, we had a great day! The tour on the water was not a tour by catamaran - as announced - but still a nice experience. Since we were only 6 people, this was very relaxed and cozy. The seals were an absolute highlight. Unfortunately, we haven't seen any pelicans. The afternoon tour was awesome! We were properly driven through the dunes - that was awesome!!!

This full-day Marine Dune Day tour was the absolute highlight of our Namibia trip! It truly delivers the best of both worlds: a relaxing yet exciting catamaran cruise in the morning with dolphins, seals, pelicans, and stunning coastal views, followed by an exhilarating 4x4 dune drive to Sandwich Harbour in the afternoon – driving along the edge where the ocean meets towering dunes is unforgettable. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish – seamless transfers, good timing, and no stress at all. Our skipper Crystal on the catamaran was knowledgeable and fun, making sure we got great sightings, and our driver Volker in the dunes was super friendly, attentive, skilled, and full of interesting info about the landscape and wildlife. We had an absolutely outstanding half-day Desert Dunes & Dust tour, and it exceeded our expectations in every possible way. Riaan was a truly exceptional guide. His experience on the dunes was evident from the outset. Getting momentarily stuck in the sand at one point only added to the adventure—and watching him recover the vehicle effortlessly, without any external assistance, was a clear demonstration that experience genuinely matters out there. He took us to places we never expected to see, making the tour feel exclusive and well thought through rather than a standard route. Throughout the drive, Riaan kept the conversation flowing and shared deep knowledge of the area, its history, and the surrounding environment—something we particularly appreciated, as we arrived knowing very little about the region. The energy among all guests was fantastic, with everyone clearly excited and engaged throughout the experience. Coordination with his colleagues, including Gérard who managed part of the group, was seamless and professional. The day was rounded off perfectly with a lovely lunch, including thoughtful and special catering arrangements for us, which was greatly appreciated. The skipper of the catamaran, Crystal, and the driver of the 4x4, Andrew, gave us an unbelievable experience. Both are very witty but very professional in what they do. They gave us lots of fun and memories, but mostly we are grateful to them for attending to our needs. This was one of the best days during our stay in Namibia!
