El recorrido por Maratea comienza desde el punto más alto de la localidad : el Monte San Biagio. Aquí podrá admirar la majestuosa Estatua del Cristo Redentor, símbolo de la ciudad y de la región Basilicata. La segunda estatua más grande de este tipo en el mundo después de la de Río de Janeiro, mide 21 metros de altura con un brazo de 19 metros y una cara que mide 3 metros. Está hecho de hormigón armado cubierto con cemento blanco y mármol de Carrara, creado por el artista Bruno Innocenti en 1965, dominando el paisaje con espectaculares vistas sobre el mar y las montañas. Después de admirar la estatua, la visita continúa a la cercana Basílica de San Biagio, dedicada a la patrona del pueblo; en su interior, se puede admirar su obra más importante, un fresco que representa a la Virgen y el Niño. El recorrido continúa por el pueblo medieval de Maratea, entre casas antiguas con arcos, callejones estrechos y calles con encanto que se abren a pequeñas plazas con piedra local, creando un ambiente evocador

La Estatua del Cristo Redentor en Maratea es una majestuosa escultura de 21 metros de altura ubicada en el Monte San Biagio. Fabricado en hormigón armado cubierto de mármol blanco, domina el paisaje con los brazos extendidos, ofreciendo espectaculares vistas sobre el mar y las montañas circundantes, y es uno de los símbolos más emblemáticos de Basilicata.
La Basílica de San Biagio en Maratea es un importante lugar de culto dedicado a la patrona de la ciudad, ubicado en el Monte San Biagio. De origen antiguo y modificado varias veces, presenta un estilo sencillo y sobrio; en su interior, conserva valiosas obras de arte, entre ellas un fresco que representa a la Virgen y el Niño, conocida como la Virgen de la Granada.
El pueblo medieval de Maratea es una encantadora red de callejones estrechos, arcos y antiguas casas de piedra que conservan el auténtico encanto del pasado. Caminando por sus calles, podrás descubrir pequeñas plazas, vistas panorámicas y un ambiente tranquilo y característico.

Bad experience, tour operator and unreliable guide. We requested the tour on the morning of mid-August, first we are not given availability and I would say that it is understandable (for us it was not essential the tour accompanied at all costs) then we are contacted by tour operators to tell us that the guided tour could be done postponing the start by an hour, no problem. The night before the tour we are contacted by the guide to postpone the start of the tour by half an hour, it's still fine (we're a bit on the edge with the times because we had lunch booked, something pointed out to the guide, and anyway we paid for a tour of 2:00 hours not 1:30). On the day of the appointment from 10:30 a.m. time when we should have seen the guide we met at 12:10 p.m.... because the guide himself, "well organized", did not know the times of the shuttles with which to reach us and maybe she would have arrived by taxi.... maybe... when we find no excuse from the guide; but by now the tour was compromised. In all this, before writing this review I contact Italygonia Travel, no answer, not even a hint at the refund of the 250 euros paid in advance. Personally I do not recommend this operator and especially as we have always paid for the guides on site.
One of the most remarkable experiences of my life. I hope that one day you will have the opportunity to get to know many valleys, beaches and ancient churches!
Lovely place as nature and landscapes. The sea very clean and the beaches, given the period, not very crowded. Definitely worth a visit to the Redeemer. and go to the most beautiful beaches (Black , La Secca, Macarro...) You absolutely must have cars equipped.
We had a delightful time on this tour! Nino, our guide, was very knowledgeable, kind, and funny. He was also very patient with us as we had a slow moving person in our group. The Redeemer was so majestic, and the streets of Maratea are so charming. Highly recommended! Ask for Nino!

Had a great day walking up to Christ the Redeemer Maratea. Cristian was an excellent guide. He met me at my accommodation and we continued a walking tour to the statue. The day was so amazing and a lot of fun😀
