Very lively, friendly, vibrant city.
This has been the worst tour we have ever had! First, the tour guide was late. We arrived at the meeting point near 8am, and the meeting point guide said to come to the meeting point 15 minutes before departure. Secondly, the tour guide was Chinese, which is fine because I am also from Hong Kong, but he didn't speak English and spoke mostly in Chinese. What’s more, we were talking to other Chinese tourists all the time, and we (me and my four Mexican family members) were completely ignored. The air conditioning was comfortable so far, but I was amazed that the Chinese tourists had their windows open. It didn’t make any difference whether we turned on the air conditioning or not, and the tour guide left it there without explaining anything! The tour consisted only of hiking, and after about 45 minutes of walking through the woods, we were taken to two small towns without any explanation of culture or history. And worst of all, the tour guide's English was extremely poor! This made it very difficult for him to elaborate in English. Most ridiculously, tour guides have demanded a minimum of €4 per person for tips as "essential"! There was no sense of gratitude at all. He said he thought everyone would appreciate it because it was already on a pre-sent note. I refused to tip him because of his unprofessional attitude and terrible behavior (he was only kind to tourists (he was actually from the mainland and studying in Munich). Their conversation was about how to get around the requirements for German permanent residency! Do not participate in this tour. Never use Viator's services again. We recommend booking through Grayline. With Grayline, at least, this won't happen!
This is a very terrible tour I ever had! First of all, the tour guide was late, he arrived at meeting point nearly 8am which the pick up details mentioned to remind travellers to be at meeting point 15 mins prior to departure. Second, the tour guide is Chinese which I am fine with that given I am also from Hong Kong however the tour guide did not speak in English but most of the time in Mandarin and only speak with the other tourist from China and ignore both of us (me and family of 4 from Mexico) Air-conditioning is so far so good but ridiculous is the Chinese tourist opened the window all the way which made no difference with turn on air conditioning or not! But the tour guide just let her to do so without any explanation! Whole tour is only for hiking, throw you away into the forest to walk for 45 mins and then sent you to two small town without any descriptions whatever the cultural backgrounds, history etc and the worst is the Tour guide’s English speaking is Extremely poor! So he was difficult to tell us more details in English The most ridiculous thing is the tour guide asked us to tips at least 4 euros per person as a MUST! Not gratitude! What he said is he already mentioned in the memo that sent to us before and believed that we shall be all acknowledged. I rejected to tips based on his unprofessional behavior and bad attitude( he is only nice to the tourist (actually she is from mainland and studying at Munich) Their conversation is around how to skip the requirements to get the permanent residency in Germany! Do not join this tour and do not use Viator service anymore, book via Grayline which at least won’t let this happen!
Had a truly wonderful trip with Mr. Yao to Königssee. The journey was comfortable from start to finish, and the breathtaking scenery made every moment unforgettable. Nature at its finest! I wholeheartedly recommend this trip. It is absolutely worth it ✨😌
Tour guide /driver cooperative and accomodating but on the downside not fluent in English which created substantial difficulties. Boat trip was canceled due to a weather problem, and the guide asked us for our suggestions to replace the trip. We suggested the jennerbahn, but he informed us that we will have to pay the tickets and later we will get a refund for the boat trip. As the jennerbahn tockets were costlier, we didn't agree to this and spent the remaining time around königssee. We are still awaiting the refund process, which was duely initiated by viator. Other parts of the trip were nonetheless unproblematic.
We had such a good time on this day trip! Our tour guide, Mr. Ren, was great and took us on a short hike, a lovely photo viewpoint, and the lake/island. We had the good fortune of having great weather, and all the views were so magical. It’s a long day, but you have time to grab a bite after the boat ride on the island. Highly recommend!
With our 9 days traveling across Europe, the Königssee tour easily stands out as our number one experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt almost unreal—the crystal-clear emerald waters peaceful atmosphere that photos simply can’t capture. Every stop along the way felt like stepping into a postcard, especially the view near St. Bartholomä—absolutely breathtaking. A special mention to our tour guide, Qi, who made the entire experience even more meaningful. He was incredibly kind, helpful, and shared fascinating stories throughout the trip that made us appreciate the place even more. What we really loved was how he took us beyond the usual tourist spots—bringing us to quieter, non-touristy areas like Berchtesgaden National Park and Der Zauberwald, which made the experience feel more personal and unique. Everything was very well-organized, and the pace of the tour allowed us to truly take in and enjoy each moment without feeling rushed. It was the perfect balance of nature, tranquility, and discovery. If you’re visiting the area, this is something you shouldn’t miss. Truly unforgettable, and without a doubt the highlight of our entire trip 🤍
Warning: You are required to tip the driver 4 euro per person at the end of the day. We were told the tour company requires it. Gratuities are generally optional, this expense should either be listed as a required fee in the booking information or included in the booking charge - nothing was mentioned about this "gratuity" until we arrived back in Munich. We did not have cash and the driver was understanding, but this whole matter was off-putting. As mentioned by another reviewer, treat this "tour" as strictly transportation. Our trip started rocky. We booked a group tour, and in the booking confirmation it is mentioned that the company will send you an email with full pick-up instructions and what the guide will look like. We never received such communications and so there was a great deal of confusion for us, as we did not know exactly where to go or who we were looking for. Group transport was via an unmarked minivan, which we almost missed had the guide not noticed us looking around for them. I had messaged the company the day before and morning of asking for the undisclosed meeting information, but they did not answer. We also called without an answer. The guide is very nice but this is not a tour, the "expert guide" is just a driver to move you from point A to B. There was absolutely no information provided on where we were going or what we were seeing, the entire ride was silent. Only the amount of time we had at each location was shared, absolutely nothing else. The "hike" mentioned in the offering is only a 5 minute walk to a vignette show that was not operating when we visited, as well as a stream. A total of 15 minutes was spent on the "hike". Next we visited a town but there was no information provided about the town, the area we were in, or the church we parked next to that is shown in the company's booking photos. I had to reference the booking to know which town we were in afterwards. We were given 30 minutes at this location to aimlessly wander a largely private and residential area. Perhaps this area is more lively outside of shoulder seasons. Although mentioned in the booking as a visit location, we never visited Hintersee. Perhaps Hintersee was the large lake we drove by before reaching Kongissee, but I would not know because our guide did not say anything. At Konigssee we had booked the boat ride and that was the highlight of the trip. However, the entire boat ride is in German, so we understood nothing. We were unaware that the boat ride terminates across the lake where you are allowed free time to explore (this exemplifies how little info this "tour" and "expert guide" provides you with). It took a bit of time to sort out the boat timetable, but we had enough time to hike the area - the best part of the excursion. Note that if taking this trip in March, and especially if you do not book the boat, everything is closed at the lake but a few cafes. The views along the boat ride, across the lake, and on the drive are breathtaking, but I would not have booked this trip had it been more accurately described or had the reviews been more honest. The matter of the unexpected fee at the end was very unpleasant as well. In short, if this is your only option to see Kongissee then book it - but don't expect anything but transportation alone and be sure to have cash for your required tip.
This was a great tour of the Magic forest. Our tour guide told us about the history and stories behind the Magic forest
This was such an amazing trip. We had great fun with Norbert. He was so passionate and explained everything so well. He also showed us some beautiful villages on the way and was very helpful.
