This amazing historic site deserves a much better show. Really needs to be brought up to 21st century level. Must be 30-40 years old what they do. Some audio with lights switched up at different spots. As it was my first time in there I was blown away by the grandeur and beauty of it. Truly amazing. But couldn't stop thinking why not to make the show appear as stunning as the building complex itself?
This was a great experience, as we did it on the very evening we arrived in Luxor. Had we seen the Karnak temple at day time before the sound & light show, it wouldn't seem as good.
Wow, the light show and sound were absolutely amazing! The story was so interesting, and it took us on a journey through Egypt's incredible history. Just a heads up, though, the show might not be suitable for really young kiddos because they will sleep. The show starts at 8:00 pm
Unfortunately, it was a light show with some historical content and images that were projected onto the monument or wall. Duration 1 hour The guide had to ask for the way back himself
Failed experience with this show which must be more than 30 years old…. No animation, loudspeakers blaring and stones that light up and go out. No interest
The Nile Cruise boat charged £90 - far too much.. You arrive at the back of Karnak where you stand for 20 minutes being told the story of the Pharohs by Dame Judy Dench. The light show is various columns being lit by lights showing various figures. You then walk for about 10 minutes to a lake where you are seated and look across the lake to some more columns being lit with figures on while various actors carry on with the story. My sister can remember watching same show over 30 years ago. In this day and age with lasers etc., this could be brought up to the 21st century. There is a lot of walking on uneven ground and steps so if you have mobility issues please take this into account, as there were quite a few people having difficulty keeping up. A few years ago I visited Philae at night with Richard Burton's voice booming across the temple, which I preferred.
We booked this for when we docked in Luxor. It was simple pick up and drop off. Guide was thorough and even waited for us to finish dinner, when we were running late.

Nice way to spend the night with spectacular light show
