This tour is wonderful. Mark brings the history of Looe totally to life in the most engaging way. He has such detailed knowledge of the town and is obviously in love with it him self. I have visited Looe a number of times but had failed to notice so many interesting things. This tour was the highlight of this trip. I am looking forward to booking on to his other tours on future trips
Hello Sheila and thank you for such lovely words. It really was a pleasure showing you both around, and spending time with you other. Thank you also for showing me into the property in East Looe ! I am continuing to investigate the strange lump in the corner! I hope that I can welcome you along on one of my other tours in the future. Best regards for now Mark
I spent a fascinating couple of hours on this excellent walking tour yesterday. I live in Looe but almost all the information and stories were new to me and I learned so much. Mark is a first-rate guide, really cheerful and engaging, and has a wealth of knowledge to share. His file of large old photos showing the locations as they were in the past really adds to the experience. I thoroughly recommend this tour to both locals and visitors. Thank you, Mark — great!
Hello Judy, and thank you so much for your kind works. It was a real pleasure to show you around with a new pair of eyes! I always enjoy showing local people around as there are so many things to see that we walk past everyday. I am delighted the your enjoyed yourself, and I enjoyed chatting with you along the way too. I will see you a round and about Best for now mark
What a wonderful morning walking around Looe and learning about the history. Mark shared some interesting facts and some great tales too! I would recommend this to anyone visiting or even living in Looe. Thank you so much Mark, my family and I really enjoyed ourselves
Hi Alex, thank you for taking the time to pop a review on here. I know that you had previously come along on my ‘Smugglers and Skullduggey’ tour, some of the stories I included yesterday for your family on the Historc Tales tour, so I hope you didn’t mid the repeats! I am grateful that you brought along your family, and I hope that they enjoyed the tour too. Looe wasn’t designed well for wheelchairs with a few bumpy bits in the old streets, and I try to ensure the the tour is mainly flat, so it’s great that your Dad could come along. Thanks again for coming along, and see you soon Mark
We had a great time yesterday with Mark from Looe Walking Tours on the From Pennyland to The Pier tour. It was fantastic to learn the fascinating history of Looe, its buildings and its people. Who knew that the iron loops outside St Nicholas Church were to attach ‘scoulding cages’ for troublesome women! Mark is a really engaging and knowledgeable guide. The tour was advertised for 90 minutes, however it actually went on for over two hours. Absolutely excellent value for money and hugely enjoyable. Highly recommended. Looking forward to the Smugglers and Skulduggery tour next!
Thanks Julie I am delighted that you enjoyed the tour so much, and for your very kind review. Normally i do run over the 90 minutes a little as i try to get as much information is as I can, and yesterday we had the wonderful family along with a wheelchair, so I made sure the pace was a s little slower. I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Curlews and I hope to see you next time. Best regards for now, Mark
Thank you Mark for a fascinating walking tour of Looe. Time flew by as we experienced Looe present day and in the past. Your local knowledge was exemplary and you made the historic sites come alive with really interesting stories and fun anecdotes. We both learned so much about Looe and Cornwall. We enjoyed going off the beaten track to see hidden Looe that we would not have experienced. We particularly enjoyed hearing about your family and your connection to the town. Could not have been better. The dogs enjoyed it too!!!! Thank you.
Thanks Mark. Such interesting stories about streets and places we would never have found on our own. You seemed to know everyone in town. Your local family ties obviously brought so much depth to your knowledge and really enhanced the tour. And thanks for arranging the sun😊.
Thank you Martin for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I am always pleased to be able to show guests an undiscovered part of Looe, and share stories of my family’s connections with the town and fishing industry. I am grateful for your review and I hope that the sun continues to shine on the north coast for the continuation of your holiday Best regards Mark
Enjoyed a fabulous history tour this morning with Mark. He shared many interesting facts and folktales about the beautiful fishing town of West and East Looe and beyond. The weather challenged us, but that didn't dampened our spirits. We would highly recommend this tour and Mark. Thank you 👏 ✨
Thank you Anna It was pleasure to meet you and Neil, and young Greta who was inquisitive and engaging during the tour. I am glad that you enjoyed the tour and the tales of old, despite us getting caught in the downpour on the bridge! I hope that you enjoyed the remainder of your holiday (and the BP tour with George) and that we will welcome you back to Looe in the future! Best regards Mark
We had the most amazing experience with Mark on the Smugglers and Skullduggery walking tour today. Mark was so friendly and interesting and we could have kept walking and listening all day. We've been coming to Looe for 24 years and yet have never walked through the streets and really looked at the history of the buildings and obviously hearing all about the various places was so interesting. We've never really explored West Looe but intend to do that tomorrow. We can't put into words how good this tour was. Our advice....do a walking tour with Mark, you certainly won't regret it.
Hello Lesley, it was so lovely to meet you all yesterday and it was a pleasure to show you around parts of Looe that you had yet to discover! I really do appreciate that you have taken the time to make such a kind review, and that you brought your family along for the tour. Enjoy the rest of your time here in Looe. Best regards mark
A very interesting tour, perfectly pitched. Plenty of interesting information, even for a local like me. Mark is very knowledgeable and clearly enjoys what he does. Would recommend to anyone.
Thank you very much for your kind review. It is always a pleasure to welcome locals along and I am glad that you found it interesting. Once again, thank you for coming on the tour and maybe see you again, best regards, Mark
Mark was the ultimate host for our walking tour today. Knowledgeable and passionate about the fascinating history of the area, he was able to answer the many questions our 8 year old son had about pirates and smugglers and kept us all captivated. A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours and get under the skin of the fabulous town. The weather didn’t spoil anything at all, a real must for anyone visiting Looe.
I really loved showing you all around today, and Freddie was a delight, such an inquisitive boy with a great mind for facts and information. I am pleased that you enjoyed you enjoyed your tour and I really appreciate you taking the time to post a review. I hope that you managed to have a cheeky one in the Jolly before heading up Hannafore Lane? And did you see the dart board? ;) Thanks again and I wish you a very enjoyable rest of your holiday. Best wishes, mark
