Nuestro amable conductor de habla inglesa lo recogerá en su hotel en Florencia para comenzar su día en PISA, una ciudad tranquila y agradable que recuerda el pasado de la república Pisan. El sistema fluvial en Pisa evitó que se declinara hacia el final del Imperio Romano. Nos centraremos en la Piazza dei Miracoli (Plaza de los Milagros), declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. El Duomo es una catedral medieval con enormes puertas de bronce y su techo dorado, su púlpito medieval y su interior de mármol blanco y negro son impresionantes ... El edificio de forma redonda cercano es el baptisterio, con una fuente octagonal que contrasta y un gran espacio interior redondo. . La torre inclinada era el campanil (campanario de la catedral) que comenzó a inclinarse poco después de su finalización en 1173.
Después de una parada de aproximadamente 1 hora, saldremos hacia SAN GIMIGNANO. La ciudad fue fundada como un pequeño pueblo en el siglo III aC por el etrusco y es famosa hoy en día por su vino (Vernaccia) y su arquitectura. San Gimignano se conoce a menudo como "la ciudad de las torres", ya que la ciudad ha podido conservar 14 torres de la época medieval ... ¡en verdad, un escenario de película! Disfrute de un paseo informativo con nuestro conductor por las estrechas calles de esta hermosa perla medieval.
Es hora de proceder a SIENA, pero en el camino queremos incluir una parada rápida a MONTERIGGIONI, uno de los asentamientos amurallados más conocidos y clásicos de la Toscana. Este pueblo fue construido en una colina por los sieneses entre 1213 y 1219 para pasar por alto la antigua calzada romana, la Via Cassia.
El centro histórico de Siena ha sido declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Su imponente horizonte es su orgullo, dominado por la catedral gótica (Duomo) y la aguja tensa de la Torre del Mangia y, sin embargo, la Piazza del Campo en forma de concha, probablemente capta la mayor atención y fama. Se ha visto en películas, fotografías y campañas publicitarias. This was an amazing experience to be able to see other parts of Tuscany and get a break from the 15 000 steps a day. Being that it was private, we were able to customize the trip being that my wife's pregnant. He drove us everywhere we needed to go to make things easy as well as made great recommendations of must see places and Gelato stands.

We enjoyed our day in Tuscany. Alex, our driver, was on time, friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience to our liking. We went first to the Michelangelo plaza, across the river, where we had not been yet for a great view of Florence. We chose not to go to Pisa, for more time in the Chianti area and wine tasting. We drove to Monteriggiani, a small walled town, which had a recent restoration. Throughout the day, all buildings were a way to feel how itight have been in medieval times. Then was Siena, with its massive, unfinished, cathedral, and the unique shell shaped plaza. We went wine tasting and lunch at Corbacci, an exclusive experience, as we get to pair wine with meal. Our host Agnes guided us through the tasting and with a passion for wine. The scenery of this place is all we have in mind when we think Tuscany. Lunch was great, no surprise. We left and headed.to St Gminiano, another well preserved medieval town, though with a different flare. Alex drove thru the countryside for more spectacular views. Then back to Florence, already planning our next visit.

We splurged on a private car for our day trip from Florence to see the highlights of Tuscany. Massimo picked us up at our hotel and provided the perfect combination of structured and free time to explore Siena and other gems. Definitely worth the extra cost to have a car and driver to ourselves.

Alex was phenomenal! He picked us up and took us to 3 medieval towns and 2 wineries. His knowledge of the area was quite extensive! He was really kind, patient and had the best recommendations both along our route and in Florence. We sincerely enjoyed our day with him and would book with him again if we had more time!
