The first part of the hike around the volcano was quite dangerous because of the narrow muddy and therefore smooth path with a steep slope down. During the walk in the Mistico park with the hanging bridges, our guide didn’t really seem to look for animals. Only when another group saw something he pointed it out. Due to the heavy rains before, we could not descend to the lake at the waterfall. Another downer. Because of this, the guide then asked us to first take us back to our hotel and later let us be taken to the Baldi Hot Springs. He thought the time there would be too much. Fortunately, we decided otherwise so our day still ended well. At Baldi there are 25 different baths and another natural sauna so the time normally provided for this trip is actually too little.
A full day of activities if you do not have many days to see the area. Starting the day with the suspension bridges and seeing animals was great. The waterfall can be seen in a short time and if you want you can bathe. Then you take a meal break, the food was really good. That way you get the strength to go on the volcano walk. It was a short walk and time didn’t allow us to see much, but our guide Miguel explained many stories all the time. And finally Baldi springs to end up relaxing in the hot springs.
We had a great experience with our guide Mario. Not only he took us to see beautiful landscapes and animals, but he also took time to share experiences and knowledge that enriched our tour. If you're planning to go to the Baldi hot springs don't forget to bring a change of clothes. Also, the lockers at Baldi are quite small, we advise you to bring a small backpack/bag. At the Baldi hot springs you can have a drink while in the water, the bar is inside the pool, so maybe bring a plastic bag to keep the money (you can only pay cash). The package includes the dinner, therefore we were expecting something special. Unfortunately, the dinner was a buffet, not many choices, close to zero veggie options, soft drinks and alcoholic beverage not included. We'd preferred to have just the Baldi entrance included and left the choice to stay at the restaurant (yes, there's a nice restaurant in addition to the buffet) or to eat somewhere else. All in all great tour, don't include the dinner.
Our tour guide Mario was absolutely amazing!! Very knowledgeable and has a wonderful sense of humor!! I would definitely book this tour again!
Always go for a guided tour when visiting La Fortuna. Not only do you have a better chance to see wildlife (the guides tell each other where they've spotted different animals) but the amount of information on everything from flora and fauna to local recommendations makes it even more worthwhile! Mario was very professional, and had lots of fun stories and wasn't afraid to joke around at our expense (in the best way!) He also kept the mood lighthearted when the rain came in, which lifted everyone's soggy spirits.
Amazing tour, good organization and great communication, we enjoyed it so much. Mario is an excellent guide, funny and very informative. He showed us lots of wildlife, he has great eye. Highly recommended
Super nice and very entertaining!! We could see howler monkeys, moments, bats and lots of beautiful vegetation. The waterfall is great!!!
The tour guide, Mario, was amazing and gave us such an informative/in depth tour of Arenal. He worked at our pace and catered to our needs. 10/10 would recommend this company to anyone hoping for an immersive tour in La Fortuna
My first experience in Costa Rica, and it was the best. Our guide was excellent, but our driver Mauricio was the best. He picked us up in San José to drive 3 hours to La Fortaleza. We always feel safe. A hug to all, we brought beautiful experiences to the island of charm. 🇵🇷
Our guide Mario was very kind, he helped us see many animals on the hanging bridges, something that we would not have been able to see if we had gone alone, he even stopped at one point to see a sloth!! The truth is that everything was incredible...I do recommend taking a tour for the first time...greetings from Mexico and again thanks to Mario
