Ferry across the Mersey

Great trip on the famous Mersey river in Liverpool city. The ferry trip takes about fifty minutes and shows the sights on both sides of the river. Recommended!

Once in a lifetime is enough.

This is something we said we’d do and we did. It was expensive for experience. The seats were uncomfortable and children were allowed by some guardians to walk around unsupervised which at times was alarming. More visible staff would have been reassuring.

You are on your own learnt nothing on this cruise!

We queued and boarded the boat on time, but once we got on, there were no staff to be seen. We were looking for a leaflet because our phone battery was dying, but we couldn't find anyone to ask for help. As a result, we missed out on information and didn't really learn anything from the experience. There definitely needs to be a member of staff on board to assist customers, especially elderly passengers and anyone who needs help or information

So very sorry to hear of your experience. We shall pass this onto our customer service team regarding assistance while onboard. However, our front of house team at the Ferry Terminal would of been able to assist you before you boarded the ferry. We have fact sheets/route maps which are only available from our ticket desk at the terminals. Visitors need to request this at the ticket desk prior to boarding.

Beautiful views!

The ferry ride was fun. The pace was slow enough so that you could see everything. The ride showed off the beauty of rhe area.

Commentary

Helps if you scan the code to find out more about the places you go past. Don't expect the boat to tell give you a running commentary

We’re sorry for any confusion and appreciate you taking the time to let us know. We do inform our customers on our website and also through 3rd Party channels of the digital commentary. To access the audio commentary, visitors are asked to scan the dedicated commentary QR code. QR posters are displayed at the ticket counter, inside the ferry terminal, on the landing stage, and on board the ferry. The QR code printed on your ticket is for entry and boarding only, and does not link to the commentary. For the best experience, we recommend bringing your own headphones, ensuring your phone is fully charged, and having mobile data enabled. If you don’t have a smartphone, our team at the ferry terminal can provide a printed cruise route fact sheet/route map on request. We have recently installed additional commentary QR code signage on the open deck to make access easier, but we still recommend downloading the guide before boarding wherever possible.

Mersy River Cruise.

Loved the trip, would have liked a live commentary instead of using your phone ( I dont carry earphones with me )

Thank you for your feedback, we are really glad that you enjoyed the cruise. The updated system was extensively trialled during March and April, with feedback gathered from passengers across all age groups. The majority of responses were positive and supported the introduction of this new approach. The digital format has been introduced to offer greater flexibility and choice, allowing visitors to decide whether or not to listen during their journey. Many passengers appreciate the option to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed experience. It also improves accessibility, as the commentary script can be viewed on personal devices, which can benefit those with hearing or sensory needs. We appreciate it is a big change but it came about due to customers feeding back negative issues with our old speaker system.

2pm river cruise

The on board commentary lasted a minute with no further info the whole cruise. Scanning the qr codes on the tickets did nothing and there were no qr codes on the outer deck to get a commentary. Spoilt the whole experience.

Great trip but bring back the commentary!

Always love going on the ferry, and had a brilliant trip with my dad and my son yesterday. It would have been five stars, but I was disappointed that the previous great commentary has been replaced with a QR code and phone commentary, or a piece of paper. I hardly saw anyone using their phones to listen to the commentary, but if you were doing this the options would be earphones (not very sociable) or having lots of people listening out of sync which I think would be more disruptive than the public commentary. There were a bunch of kids on a school trip who of course weren't listening to the commentary so missed out on all the info. The commentary was brilliant and I don't know anyone that's found it intrusive, so not sure why this change was made. Please think about going back to the commentary Mersey Ferries!
