Después del almuerzo, visitaremos la famosa fábrica de azulejos y una bodega local para una cata de vinos. En Cabo Espichel se ubica el complejo del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Cabo Espichel – Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Cabo, Ermita de la Memoria, Casa de las Velas, Plaza de Cabo Espichel, Cruz, Casa del Agua y Acueducto de Cabo Espichel.
Los orígenes del Castillo de Sesimbra se remontan al siglo IX, durante el período de ocupación musulmana del territorio. En 1165 fue conquistada por el rey Afonso Henriques, pero en 1191 fue perdida por los almohades. Su reconquista definitiva la realizó el rey Sancho I en 1199, quien otorgó la primera carta a la villa de Sesimbra, que por entonces se encontraba dentro de las murallas del castillo. A lo largo de la Edad Media, debido a su importancia estratégica en la defensa de las fronteras marítimas y terrestres del reino, el castillo sufrió numerosas ampliaciones.
El encuentro de la sierra y el mar dio origen a una extensión de playas de arena fina y aguas cristalinas que sólo se encuentran en el Mediterráneo, como Figueirinha, Galapos y Portinho da Arrábida. Esta región fue favorecida por los frailes franciscanos que, entre los siglos XVI y XIX, vivieron en el Convento aún en pie y meditaron en las recónditas capillas diseminadas por la Serra. Arrábida ofrece excelentes condiciones para la agricultura y la ganadería, dando como resultado productos locales de alta calidad. Entre lo más destacado están los vinos, que podrás explorar siguiendo la Ruta del Vino de la Costa Azul. Esta ruta te lleva al encantador pueblo de Azeitão, donde podrás degustar algunos deliciosos quesos.

Azulejos hechos a mano: tres técnicas diferentes Pintura tradicional a mano: Cada pieza está cuidadosamente pintada a mano con pinceles finos y pinturas cerámicas vibrantes, lo que permite crear diseños intrincados y únicos. Técnica de esténcil: Se aplica una plantilla a la superficie del azulejo y se pintan o rocían colores a través de ella, creando patrones repetidos con bordes precisos. Técnica de relieve o gofrado: Los azulejos se moldean o tallan para crear diseños en relieve, añadiendo textura y profundidad antes de pintarlos o esmaltarlos a mano.

This tour truly became one of our favorites during the visit to Portugal. Our wonderful guide Ricardo went out of his way to showcase the stunning beauty of Arrabida. He picked us up near our hotel in Lisbon, making everything so convenient. Throughout the day, we stopped at many breathtaking viewpoints and beaches that left us in awe. Ricardo was incredibly kind and even took photos of my mom and me throughout the tour. He captured some truly special candid moments that we would have never been able to get ourselves. Overall, the tour went smoothly, and we both felt completely relaxed and at ease. We enjoyed some divine wines at the Bacalhoa winery, and before that, Ricardo kindly offered us delicious fresh cheese and bread from the local market. After winery visits, we had a wonderful lunch at a charming local restaurant—I had one of the best shrimp curry stews ever! Our last stop was at a tile workshop, where we learned even more about the beautiful Portuguese tiles and how they are crafted and painted. Ricardo generously shared a wealth of insights into Portuguese culture and lifestyle. He also offered fantastic tips on how to explore more hidden gems around Lisbon and make the most of your visit.
