We took a bike tour in Lecce because we didn’t have much time to explore the city, and it turned out to be a fantastic way to see it! We had Francesca as our tour guide, and she was lovely. We covered the entire historic centre by bike and visited the four main historic gates of Lecce’s old town. Francesca did a great job pointing out all the important sites along the way. We would stop in front of each one, and she would give us some interesting history and background — it was fascinating and made the city come alive. One thing I would have loved, especially since we weren’t staying long, is the opportunity to go inside some of the monuments or churches when there was free entry, even if just for five minutes to take a few pictures. Most of the churches had an entrance fee, but having a three- or four-hour bike tour option would have been great for people like us who wanted a little more time to explore inside. At the end of the tour, we stopped at a little coffee place by the last gate and had a Coca-Cola, an espresso and, of course, a traditional Puglian pasticciotto — the perfect way to finish the tour! Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it. Lecce is absolutely picturesque, full of history and beautiful architecture, and seeing it by bike was a wonderful way to experience the city when you’re short on time.
The bike tour was an easy ride through gorgeous Lecce! Francesca was informative and very sweet! We were a bit lost getting to the starting area and there was prompt and informative communication w the operators. We stopped at the major sights, which were all gorgeous! The end was a sweet treat and the best coffee I’ve ever had… Caffe Lecce! Take this tour… you’ll love it!!
Marta is an excellent guide; she leaves nothing unexplained and nothing unseen. She does her job with great dedication and professionalism; we had an excellent experience visiting and getting to know Lecce!
Had a nice bike ride with guide Marta. Her knowledge of the city was superb!
Clemence was our guide. She could tell wonderfully about all the sights. Good tour ended with a snack
If you want to see something with (no detailed) explanation in a short time, this tour is definitely recommended. Our guide Marta had a clear voice (English), very pleasant as there are also many other tours with guides at the sights. You have to be able to cycle because it goes right through the streets of lecce with its many tourists, this will probably be much worse in the main season. Only major drawback is the location of velo service, in a neighborhood with very many ,only male, not Italians hanging there on the street.
Very fun and painless (from the perspective of explanations, which can be overwhelming if too detailed!) ideal for participants with children, who get tired quickly on foot, while they have a great time on bikes. Moreover, it is ideal if it is hot and walking would be too much. Two hours flew by and ended with a delightful snack!
Fantastic tour, fascinating attractions. Our guide, Francesca "the veteran", was friendly and helpful, made us discover hidden corners of the city and interesting anecdotes.
