Loved kayaking near the geothermal features and lake critters with informative guides. Safety, both in/out of kayak, was an obvious priority and much appreciated. Nice mix of a relaxing row one way and an adrenaline sprint back to starting point to avoid incoming storm. Great guides, thank you Hickory and Stephanie!
We had an amazing experience with Shurr Adventures on their half-day kayak tour past the geothermal features on Lake Yellowstone. Everything started smoothly — the meeting point was easy to find, and our guide, Hickory, walked us through all the safety precautions before we set off. Hickory was the highlight of the trip. He was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the area, sharing insights on Yellowstone's volcanic activity and the geothermal changes happening right along the lake. He kept the group organized and moving at a good pace, checked in with everyone regularly, and was happy to answer questions throughout. He also threw in some great local dining tips and area facts you really can't get anywhere else — the kind of insider knowledge that only comes from a guide who knows the region well. My 11-year-old daughter and I shared a tandem kayak for the full 6-mile round trip, and it was smooth sailing the whole way — no issues at all, even for a first-timer paddling that distance. We learned so much about the lake's geothermal features while getting to spend a beautiful morning out on the water. Highly recommend this tour if you want a mix of adventure, education, and gorgeous scenery. Great for families, too — my daughter loved it just as much as I did.
We did the half-day kayaking tour with our kids and had a wonderful time. Our host was personable and shared lots of great information along the way, which made the trip both fun and educational. My wife and I paddled tandem with no issues at all — smooth and easy to handle even with kids along. A lovely morning all around. Highly recommend for a variety from. your typical Yellowstone tour.
Very easy and fun experience! What a fun activity to do in Yellowstone. Shout out to Tony for being the best tour guide!
Long paddle to & from the main attraction, which the main attraction was nice & offered some viewing you couldn't see from shore, however the area of interest was only 1/10th of the overall trip.
Sam was a great guide, very friendly and informative. Check in and finding the marina were easy; it was nice to be in a less crowded area of the park. All the pre-trip info was very helpful, but there should be a note that in July/August the extra layers of warm clothing are not needed.
Go in the morning. The wind starts picking up on the lake around noon.
Peaceful paddle through beautiful and interesting landscapes. Guides were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Anthony was an awesome guide. We learned so much from him. And he was also very patient with our family.
Anthony was our guide and he was great. He was very patient and kind! He is a very knowledgeable outdoorsman! He had a lot of great personal stories to tell as he was touring us around West Thumb Lake! Thanks Anthony!
