Las brillantes aguas azules del lago Titicaca son el hogar de las famosas Islas Flotantes de los Uros, hechas por el hombre. Estas islas y sus viviendas, que datan de una época preincaica, están hechas completamente de totora, una espadaña autóctona que crece en el lago. Con una visita guiada, conozca a los habitantes que han formado una pequeña comunidad y aprenda cómo estas islas se mantienen a flote. Durante la tarde, visite la isla de Amantani y experimente la cultura única de los lugareños.

Lo recogeremos de su hotel en el centro histórico de Puno entre las 0645 y las 0700 de la mañana. Antes de abordar el bote a motor hacia la isla de los Uros, haremos una breve parada en el muelle donde podrá comprar algunos bocadillos y agua embotellada. Una vez que te instales en el bote, un músico local te dará la bienvenida con una música folclórica andina. Nuestro guía se presentaría a sí mismo y al capitán del bote antes de darle un breve resumen del itinerario del día en el lago navegable más alto del mundo, el lago Titicaca. Nuestra primera parada será en las icónicas islas flotantes de Uros. Durante el viaje desde el continente hasta una de las islas de los Uros, puedes ver plantas de totora que crecen en el lago Titicaca. Estos constituyen la fuente básica de alimentos y, al mismo tiempo, sirven como un sistema de mantenimiento que los Uros tienen para perpetuar la existencia de las islas. Cuando el barco atracara, las mujeres locales vestidas con el atuendo local darían una cálida bienvenida al lugar al que llaman hogar. El jefe de la isla luego demostraría cómo construyen estas islas utilizando plantas de totora y compartiría algunas palabras en su idioma nativo (aymara). Los nativos aquí son conocidos por sus artesanías, por lo que puede comprar algunos si lo desea. Luego tendrá la opción de navegar en el tradicional barco de totora (10 Soles) a la isla principal de Uros. Si lo desea, puede sellar su pasaporte aquí como recuerdo. Desde aquí, comenzaremos nuestro viaje en bote a las islas Taquile. Puede caminar hasta la cubierta abierta en el nivel superior del bote y obtener algunas fotos de las islas flotantes por las que pasaría.
Rompiendo las verdes aguas del lago Titicaca de Perú se encuentra la pequeña isla de Taquile, donde los aldeanos locales han creado una industria constante de artesanías tejidas, que son tejidas por los hombres de la comunidad. Taquile es el hogar de una población quechua de 2.000 personas que son principalmente agricultores, pescadores y sobre todo tejedores de renombre. Sin embargo, a diferencia de la visión a menudo trágicamente tradicional del tejido y el trabajo textil como herencia de las mujeres, son los hombres de la isla de Taquile quienes hacen gran parte del delicado trabajo del hilo. Después del almuerzo alrededor de las 02:30 PM, abordará el bote de regreso a Puno. Aproximadamente a las 04:30 de la noche, el barco atracará en el muelle de botes de Puno. Nos reuniremos con usted a su llegada y lo llevaremos de regreso a su hotel dentro del centro histórico de la ciudad.

We did this full day trip to Lake Titicaca and it was just perfect. From the guide service to transport, everything was smooth. The locals were welcoming and friendly. We even toured the local home on the floating islands. It was a perfect day trip.

While the tour was amazing I think there should be more transparency on what occurs on the tour. My travel companion was having a little difficulty with the altitude, so we were taking it easy. I booked this tour thinking it was a cruise, you go to the floating islands, have lunch and then go back. Nowhere in the description did it say to have lunch you have to hike 1km up a hill (it may be further). If this was in the description I would have cancelled but instead we were left with the choice of climbing a hill with my companion sucking on oxygen or sit on a boat for 2 hours waiting. As I said previously the floating islands were wonderful but I think the walk to the lunch should be mentioned for travellers to make an informed choice.

Pick up was on time , we had a great guide and boat driver. The guide gave us so much information about the history and how the islands were built , the wildlife etc and the lake . The island we visited was great and had a female chief - impressive. They showed us through using models and materials how the islands are constructed. The lunch was delicious and they catered for my vegan diet . Very good day .

This review isn’t aimed directly at the tour company but rather the experience on the islands. We arrived at Uros island and my partner and I found it to be rather uncomfortable. You are ushered into the local’s homes, they dress you in their clothes and then proceed to guilt trip you into buying their stuff. We also were told each island only has 1 visit every 3 weeks to further guilt trip you but upon research we found this was definitely false!! We found it to be extremely inauthentic and choreographed for your money. On top of that, we were directed onto their boat where they take you to another island. Yet once you are sat on the boat and the boat has left the island, they come around collecting money from you which isn’t optional! It is complete manipulation. The second island is much better but still very staged and it makes me sad that the people now completely rely on tourism to live. Definitely do not pay £42 either as you can get it for 30soles the day before at the port in Puno :)

A big thanks to our guide, Abel for making this trip a memorable one. The tour company was very well organized and easy to reach out to. Miluska, helped me plan the tour and provided all information to plan everything smoothly. The price included all admission fee and the group size was very small, around 12 people. Highly recommend for someone interested in knowing more about local traditions and customs and doing this on the way in or out of Puno to Bolivia.
