Delphi estuvo habitada desde los tiempos micénicos (siglos XIV-XI aC) por pequeños asentamientos dedicados a la Madre Tierra. La adoración de Apolo como el dios de la luz, la armonía y el orden se estableció entre los siglos XI y IX a. Poco a poco durante los próximos cinco siglos, el santuario creció en tamaño e importancia. Durante el siglo VIII a. C. Delphi se hizo internacionalmente conocida por los poderes oraculares de Pythia, la sacerdotisa que se sentó en un trípode, inhaló gases de etileno y murmuró palabras incomprensibles que anunciaban el futuro.

Saliendo de Atenas, conduciremos por la carretera nacional hacia los ladrones, Levadia, Distomo y el pueblo de Stiri para visitar el monasterio de Osios Loukas, del siglo XI, que se encuentra en la ladera de una montaña con vistas a un hermoso valle. Luego nos dirigiremos hacia el hermoso pueblo de Arachova, que se encuentra cerca del Centro de esquí de Parnassos. Después de un maravilloso viaje panorámico a través de montañas y fértiles valles, visitaremos la antigua ciudad de Delfos, visitaremos el Oráculo, el ombligo y el centro del mundo, según la mitología griega. El museo local y el estadio local. Finalmente, visitaremos el moderno pueblo de Delfos y almorzaremos en una taberna tradicional pintoresca. Luego volveremos a Atenas.

We ability enjoyed our day. Even thought it was cloudy and drizzling our driver and tour guide were excellent. Delphi is such a beautiful place to visit and what made it more special was that it was on my birthday. Our driver took us to an amazing restaurant over looking hundreds of olive trees in the small village. It was perfect. I couldn’t ask for a more enjoyable and unforgettable birthday.

The drivers and tour guides were extremely professional and the costs were very reasonable. We did two different tours - private all day Delphi tour and also the 1/2 day Athens walking tour. From the moment Yannis picked us up at our hotel we had a smooth and enjoyable experience. Yannis was excellent company on the drive from Athens.
