Indie was a fantastic guide. She took the time to pause and show us as much wildlife and vegetation as possible. She was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the experience. It rained hard the whole time. We were drenched even with top rated water proof boots and jackets. I recommend long pants that go over the top of your boots. The guide wear rubber goloshes and plastic ponchos over your rain jackets. This weather is seriously wet. Bring extra shoes for La Fortuna to alternate wet shoes, rubber goloshes would be best.
Do not miss a trip to the Mistico Hanging Bridges! It was absolutely beautiful. It was one of our favorite excursions in the Arenal Area. It took us almost 3 hours because we kept seeing so much wildlife! Tour guide: We did a group tour with a guide at Mistico, Yen. He was amazing! Yen was very easy to talk to, patient, so knowledgeable and loves what he does. His enthusiasm was contagious! We saw so much wildlife and learned a lot. There were 10 in the group and it did not feel like too much v the cost of doing a private tour.
Great guide! Weather was rainy of course. There were little kids whining on the tour and he did a great job to make the tour enjoyable anyway. Learned a lot. Would definitely recommend.
Great tour! Our guide was very informative and we didn’t let the rain get in the way of this experience!
Quintessential Costa Rica experience. Our guide, Donald, loves what he does, that is clear. It was POURING for the first 1.5 hours of the experience, we were soaked to the bone despite rain jackets and umbrellas (as they say, “don’t come to the rainforest if you don’t wanna get wet!”). But then the rain started clearing up and it’s like all the animals put on a show for us. We saw a fur-de-lance snake, a jumping viper, an eyelash viper, several species of cool frogs, capuchin monkeys, 1 howler monkey, large butterflies and more. You cannot do this experience without a guide. Highly recommend.
This was a fabulous experience!! The guide was very helpful!! We wouldn’t have seen any of the animals she found! The animals are very good at hiding!! Get the guide!!!
We had so much fun doing the hanging bridges walking tour! Our tour guide, Jorge, was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour. He pointed out a ton of cool animals that we wouldn’t have seen without him and his tools. We went during a very rainy day, but that definitely didn’t take away from the atmosphere and we enjoyed walking along the path even with the rain. The path was incredibly well maintained. I would recommend this tour to just about anyone!
If you're on the fence about booking a guide, do it! It is truly the only way to see the park's animals and plant life. I felt bad for the people wandering through without a guide - they missed so much, and a few even tried to subtly eavesdrop on our tour just to catch what they were missing! The Guide: Naza was exceptionally knowledgeable. She spotted things we would have completely missed on our own, like an impossibly tiny, transparent glass frog! The Experience: Just over 2 hours long, fully packed with fascinating information. Group Size: Small group (fewer than 10 people), which made it super easy to chat, share, and ask questions. An incredible 12:00 PM tour—don't visit without booking a guide!
We did the tour with Beto the tour guide. He was amazing - he seemed to know every inch of this dense jungle and all if its creatures and habitats, including the plant life. We saw many different species, even a viper hanging right off the path! Couldn’t recommended more, ask for Beto!!!
Excellent day. Highly advise getting a guide. Well worth the extra money.
